ESPN: Roy Williams Released

I just gained 100000000000000000 respect points for Jerry Jones. For only the second time in his life he has put his ego aside for the good of the team.

Baloney. That's just a convenient stereotype. This move won't kill it either. Jones will still be regarded that way by some when it suits them.

I am counting on the rookie and ogletree to take over the slot duty.

Is there a cap hit on this and if there is what is it? I thought if we released him the cowboys would take a big hit on the cap.

They save $5 million this year but take a $8 million hit in 2012.

This one surprises me as well. As for a replacement, I'd love the Giants Steve Smith. Highly unlikely though. As of now, I don't think the Cowboys #3 receiver is on the roster.

Count me as surprised too. I thought we either lost cap money with this move or didn't save too much? What is the effect on our cap number with this cut?

ACcording to Adam we save 5 mil this year, and 3 mil next year, even though the cap hit will be 9 mill next year

What about Sam Hurd as our #3 receiver. He was good enough to be our #3 in 2007 when we went 13-3. Not to mention Kevin Ogletree is entering his third year and has hopefully matured.

Garrett is showing who is in charge.

LOL. How is this a Garrett move? Especially when the Cowboys are trying to get under the salary cap? If Roy Williams was cheap he would still be a Cowboy.

I like Steve Breaston from Arizona. He would b a good fit.

He would but not for his price.

We didn't cut Roy to make room for Steve freakin Breaston. Lol.

A 1st, a 3rd, and a huge contract for two years of "meh". We got so ****ed on this deal.

Wow. Who's our #3 now?

Even the rookie we got could take over that role, it's not like Roy was contributing much. Given half a chance i'm sure even Hurd could do better

Hiring Parcells

Cutting Roy Williams

That's it

I appreciate his effort but Dallas was just a bad fit.

Dallas is getting rid of some dead weight!

He is a FA and as good as gone. IMO
