Matt Williamson: (11:59 AM ET ) Hey Folks, let's get started on the NFC East chat. Luckily for Philly, they are off this week, but I do think the other three teams all get a "W" this week. Let's roll!
Chris (Staten Island, NY): Browns fans are happy at 2-2 given their 1st round pick goes to Dallas, but have they considered maybe they wasted a pick on Brady Quinn altogether considering Derek Anderson's age and upside? (this means you Andew from Toledo)
Matt Williamson: (12:02 PM ET ) Not an NFC East question, but no problem-I think it was a good pick. Anderson is a backup. Always will be. Playing well for sure, but he is a #2. Having too many QBs is not a bad thing. Can always deal a guy if need-be.
Justin (Queens): Why do you think the Giants can beat the JETS? Last weeks sack-fest was more of poor O-Line play than anything. They only had 4 sacks in all the other games.
Matt Williamson: (12:05 PM ET ) That was poor OL play, but Osi and Strahan aren't exactly chopped liver. They are proven exceptional pass rushing DEs. Strahan was very slow coming back early in the season, as he sat out the entire preseason and Osi was injured early on. Those two are for real. The Jets' OL isn't exactly the '70s Raiders either.
Ryan, Hartford: What are the odds that we'll see better decision making (from Gibbs AND from Campbell) the next time the skins are knocking in the 2:00 minute offense? 100%, right?
Matt Williamson: (12:07 PM ET ) They almost HAVE to do a better job, as they did a pretty horrible job last time. There will be growing pains with Campbell, as with any young QB, but that was on the coaches as much as Campbell. Big Campbell supporter here.
matt holiday (near home plate): matt, how do you see brandon jacobs doing this week? minimal carries, but maybe a chance at the goal line? also, please rank jacobs, welker and bowe for this week. thanks!
Matt Williamson: (12:08 PM ET ) Yeah, I think you nailed it on Jacobs. Ease him into it. Honestly, Ward might be the better option. I would play Bowe over those two for fantasy reasons. Welker is probably the safest option, but Bowe has the most upside.
Alan (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania): What are the chances that the Eagles trade Donovan Mcnabb this season or this off-season if they continue to have a bad year?
Matt Williamson: (12:10 PM ET ) I do know that they LOVE Kolb and I am big on his as well. BUT, McNabb is a great player. Established. The price would have to be high. Two Chicago #1s? I can see it happening, but not sure that I can agree with it.
Keith (Boston, MA): Why does Eli get more love then Pennington? I would take Chad everyday of the week.
Matt Williamson: (12:12 PM ET ) I wouldn't. Eli has an NFL arm and that has really limited the Jets' O. D's just crowd the LOS. Eli doesn't have Pennington's head by any stretch, but he has continued to improve. Pennington has reached his max. Eli has not.
Ryan (Hartford): Watching Campbell and the defensive line progress... '08-'09 seems like the year in which the 'skins could make a real run at the title. Will Portis still be healthy enough by then, though? Or do you think Gibbs has already missed the window?
Matt Williamson: (12:14 PM ET ) Yeah, I guess I can buy that. If Jansen comes back to full strength. Another couple draft picks who work out. Not sure that Portis is ALL that important. Can be great, but they can win with Betts. Need another DLinemen.
Sean (Philly): Can Curtis wear the Blue and Yellow next week, it made him look a lot faster...
Matt Williamson: (12:15 PM ET ) Made him catch a lot more passes and make a lot more big plays too!
Ryan, Hartford: In the long term, what's the bigger concern for the Commanders D? Fragile Corners, or inconsistent (no-name) Linemen?
Matt Williamson: (12:16 PM ET ) Wow-tough call. I guess DL. I am a big believer that the games are usually won and lost in the trenches. Another game changer on that front would make like easier on the CBs. Plus, Wash has those two killer safeties back there.
Al (Indy): Where is Dallas weakest on Defense? My friend has Lynch on his fantasy team and Evans is available to pick-up. Will either or both pick up yards/points on Monday?
Matt Williamson: (12:17 PM ET ) Both could, as Buff is going to be losing badly and garbage time points count the same in fantasy. As for their weakness, it was at CB with a banged up Newman and he isn't all the way back yet. NT/middle of the field can be had. Improving D all around though.
Adam (oklahoma): how good are the chances the 'boys go into the NY Giants game undefeated?
Matt Williamson: (12:18 PM ET ) Slim. You do see the Patriots on the schedule, right?
Andrew (Indianapolis): Looking at espn.com today, it looks like most "experts" are picking the Commanders to win this weekend against the Lions. What in the last 4 weeks would give any indication this is even possible? The Lions look like a much better team.
Matt Williamson: (12:19 PM ET ) I am picking Wash as well. Home field is big. I just don't trust Det's D yet. I am impressed with what they have done so far without a doubt and their O will score points, especially through the air. It is a tough call, but I think Wash will have success running and throwing.
Paul (Portland, OR): How on earth is McNabb going to stay injury-free this year if Andy Reid keeps forgetting that you can hand the ball off once in awhile? McNabb's getting beat up!
Matt Williamson: (12:20 PM ET ) Yeah-I hear ya! Max protect once in a while! Hand it off!
Juan: (Newark, New Jersey): Are Clinton Portis and the Commanders overrated? Being also that this is Campbell's first year starting will, they struggle down the road?
Matt Williamson: (12:21 PM ET ) Not sure where they are presently "rated". They look like a 7 win team to me. Huge learning year for Campbell with ups and downs. Injuries could hurt this team more than most as the season goes along.
Sean (Philly): I'll take next years number one and Hester from the Bears if the Eagles are 1 and 7 mid year.
Matt Williamson: (12:22 PM ET ) If I am in Chi's shoes, I would do that in a heartbeat. Actually, pretty fair deal to me.
Austin - Dallas, TX: When the Cowboys play the Patriots, do you see a blowout or a close game going down to the wire?
Matt Williamson: (12:23 PM ET ) Pats handle them. Sorry. I just don't see chinks in NE's armour.
Chicago: Is McNabb really worth a #1? Culpepper was worth a 2nd and McNair was worth a 4th. I can't see a bad season giving him that much value. But the bears did give a # for Mirer, oops!!!
Matt Williamson: (12:25 PM ET ) McNair was ancient. McNabb is in his prime. Legit franchise QB. Top 5 guy...when healthy.
bill, san diego: hey matt, will you please tell me what 3 areas (preferably in order) dallas needs to address in the offseason? i say CB, DT and then WR. you?
Matt Williamson: (12:27 PM ET ) I might agree with you completely. Can live with the LBs and OL. They do need one young talented WR and could see them using a first rounder there. J Jones will probably leave, so expect a first day pick on a RB as well. They are in a great situation for the future-not have glaring needs, but have high picks.
Doug (Dallas): who is better Dallas' O-line or NE's Def front? why?
Matt Williamson: (12:30 PM ET ) NE's front-by far. They are loaded in their front 7. Not even close. That isn't a knock in Dallas' OL, but NE's front seven is stacked with big physical fundamentally sound football players who are very smart and understand the scheme extremely well. Okay everyone, I am out. Adios.
