IRVING, Texas – Will Herring is the third free-agent acquisition the Dallas Cowboys have made, joining Jeremy Mincey and Terrell McClain. He has been mostly a special-teams player for the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks, but his one start defensively came a year ago against the Cowboys in New Orleans’ 49-17 win. He finished with three defensive tackles and two special-teams stops. Herring played mostly weak inside linebacker for his 12 snaps, but played some weakside linebacker when Rob Ryan went with a four-man base defense look.
