I would NOT move Gurode anywhere. He finally got his act together playing center. I'd be looking for a G first then maybe a G/C combo like Samson Satele, who can actually play C/G/ and T.

I agree, that's too much moving around for a player who's mental situation is iffy at best

Kyle Young is another option to consider

hey, you asked me why I don't want him in the 1st, and I gave you my reasoning

let's not turn this into another moral debate, please

then show me where i asked you why you'd not take him in the 1st round.

i said it was too early to tell and you went off into defense mode.

i said there's no hard and fast rule, you gave me criteria and attitude in "lessons learned"

i reiterated there is no hard and fast rule.

now you're making stuff up in that i asked you why you'd not take him in the 1st round.

you sure can be a confusing spud to talk to somtimes.

now I definitely don't want to draft Blalock in the 1st, he'll probably be around in the 2nd anyhow

because he's only 6'3" or because of 1 day of practice in the wet weather?

because i thought it was silly to make such a statement after 1 practice and that we need to give him time AS I STATED in all later threads to finish my thought. HOWEVER - based on the verbiage i can see where you'd think i was saying that.

I think Kalil is an elite Center. I will always move someone I like aside for an elite player.

I didn't you think said anything, I said something, you replied, in the form of a question, and I elaborated on my thinking :D

Was ESPN watching the same practice I was yesterday?

Hughes was routinely getting beat in man coverage. Consistently lining up 8-10 yards from the WR and NEVER trying to press. He pretty much showed that he has to play in a Tampa 2 (cover 2) style scheme, IMO.

But if Gurode reverts to G form, then we still have a hole to fill. We can't go through another terrible year at RG. I'd rather look for an elite guard.

So, you'd rather pay him 25 million than draft a Center who has more upside?

I think we'll keep Gurode, but I think he at G and Kalil is a better and cheaper solution than keeping him at Center and trying to find an elite Guard.

I love the ignore feature. I wish others did. It works. Not perfectly, but it sure beats the love tango of the damned.

When did center become a $25 million dollar position? Is he saying for 10 years? Look, these 2 options actually seem interchangeable, I just happen to think that Changing more than one position is more of a risk. Also, who is to say that Kalil can come in and be Elite? What if he is average? Then we now have 2 positions to fix if Gurode struggles at G.

USC center Ryan Kalil used his quickness to get into good position and flew around the field. He has gained some weight, but Kalil is still undersized and lacks ideal power. It showed on the field, as defenders overpowered him at times.

Didn't we see some of this with Al Johnson? Again, I'm not saying he is a crap player, but there is no guarantee. I'd rather focus on fixing on problem and not risking creating another.

Gurode will likely get that kind of money. He's a Free Agent.

I do not believe he will struggle at Guard, but then I'm not a fatalist.

I like Kalil at Center better than I do any Guard or Center in the Draft or Free Agency. The only question becomes what to do with Gurode. I like him at Guard better than I do anyone we can get in the Draft too.

well it *was* getting better in regard to stupid arguments, then suddenly...

the ignore feature would be MUCH BETTER if it simply did jsut that - ignored the person, not make it harder to see their reply.

Just FYI, the 1 on 1 drills are set up so that every player plays approximately the same number of plays 8-10 yards off so they can look at a CB's inside positioning then they play a set number of plays in press coverage.

This allows the scouts to see players in coverages they may not have done in college.

Plus Hughes did look better than Hall or McCauley in the "off" coverage.

The ignore list doesn't work when some people are exempt from being put on "ignore" <cough, cough,Brainpaint> because of their moderator status. <cough, cough,Brainpaint>:p:

Ok. We agree to disagree.
