News: ESPN: Sources: Browns, Rams finalizing Myles Garrett blockbuster trade

I dunno....Verse was a pretty prolific pass rusher, I know Garrett is an upgrade but how much of an upgrade is the question. And who knows how much Stafford has in the tank.
I hear ya & it's always a good question. If that D is stifling us though, it won't really matter about Stafford. If he stays healthy, looked like he had plenty left at the end of last season.

how much is verse alone worth? a 1st and 2nd? plus another first they gave. + “and more compensation”

love how our fans want us to make every single trade like we have the assets.
yeah alot of not too smart fans. Our gm duo of the jones boys are no vg at trades,so the less they do the better off we are?
The Rams have lost in champ game now 3 years in a row, so they are closest to 1 player away.
I said earlier before this broke that the rams might be the one to get him, and would probably know how to use hi, the best.

Rams still need to get the top seed, and if they do they might win the SB this year.
I might need to wager on that , I wonder what the odds are now?

Good trade for both teams. Cleveland got great value in return.

If the Rams win the Super Bowl, it will be a GREAT trade for both teams.

Perhaps the most all-in trade in recent memory.

The Seahawks and Rams were the two best teams in the NFL last year, in my opinion. Rams have catapulted ahead with this move and have to open the season as Super Bowl favorites.

When is the last time the Cowboys opened as SB favorites?

You're right but the Cowboys had Micah getting 12, 13-plus sacks per year and never got past that point. D-Law had 14.5 sacks in 2017 and they went 9-7. DeMarcus Ware had 20 sacks in 2008 and Dallas went 9-7.

I agree that Myles Garrett is a game changer. My point is this team has had plenty of elite pass rushers putting up elite numbers and it never got them anything; for whatever reason.
Because we never built a complete team. The NFL is a team game so the team is only as strong as its weakest link. The Rams use the entire gamut of roster building to strengthen their weakest links so a move like this matters. An offense can nullify one or two elite players by giving them extra attention and attacking weaknesses.

Seriously, forget about any possibility, if it ever existed or ever could exist, of Dallas winning a Super Bowl this year. There simply isn't a player they can add right now who can make Dallas compete against the Rams. Start making mock drafts for 2027.

This really sucks for everyone on the NFC. 20 of his 23 sacks last year came with 4 man lines. He's going to tear up the NFC. Looks like the Rams are "all in".

Was verse is the deal?
I wish people would not be lazy by only posting links.

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to trade star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in one of the biggest blockbuster trades involving a defensive player in NFL history.
The main points of the deal include:
  • The Trade Package: The Rams are acquiring Garrett in exchange for 25-year-old edge rusher Jared Verse (the Rams' 2024 first-round pick) along with a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.
  • The Rams' "All-In" Mentality: With Super Bowl LXI scheduled to be played at their own SoFi Stadium in February 2027, the Rams are aggressively shedding future draft capital to win now. Vegas quickly reacted to the news, pushing the Rams' Super Bowl odds to 13-2 (making them the favorites in the NFC West).
  • What Cleveland Gets: Beyond adding a younger, highly productive pass-rusher in Verse (who has logged 12 sacks over the past two seasons), the Browns secure major future draft assets and an estimated $30 million in cash savings to help restructure their roster.
  • Garrett's Status: The 30-year-old reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year is coming off a historic season where he broke the NFL single-season sack record. He waived his rare no-trade clause to finalize the move and remains under contract through 2030 on the four-year, $160 million extension he signed last year.
  • A Growing NFL Trend: The article notes that this trade continues a recent wave of ultra-bold front office moves across the league, drawing comparisons to other massive defensive shakeups like Dallas trading Micah Parsons to Green Bay and the Jets trading Sauce Gardner to the Colts.

Jerry is not serious about winning a superbowl. We should have made this trade.
Garrett would not help us win a superbowl in the 2026 season. Considering that the 2027 NFL Draft is loaded, we’re better off conserving our draft captial.

Good trade for both teams. Verse is young and seems like he’ll be a good starting Edge in this league. Plus they get a few high draft picks.

And the Rams get an All Timer at DE to pair with Stafford for another Super Bowl run. The Rams were probably the 2nd best team in the league last year. This trade makes them the favorites.

That's a definite L for DAL now. Probably 5-7 wins.
