I'm guessing they don't want Romo standing behind Dak on the sideline dressed and ready to jump in at a moments notice.

When/if they determine that Romo starts, it will be his first game suited up IMO.

Nailed it. They'd prefer to go to butt fumble then start tony snap 1 in the next game over bring tony in.

I don't think there will be an announcement, at all. Romo's been throwing for awhile and practiced officially for two weeks before they said he was cleared medically. When Romo is no longer running scout team will be when he starts.
Maybe announcement was the wrong word for me to use explaining what I believe will happen. I foresee the media asking Garrett whether Romo will start and Garrett answering yes. That's what I meant by announcement.

I think he suits up as the BACKUP on Thanksgiving.
I think he starts that Sunday against B-more, but I reserve the right to change my mind. I do think when he suits up, it'll be as starter.

Aw ok. Yeah, that's when Garrett gets extra awkward. He's been dodging and de-boing questions about Romo for weeks. It's actually funny at this point.

My thought and my thought alone, I think Romo starts on thanksgiving unless something happens to Dak

I'm hesitant to say this, but if you're going to start Romo, the time is VERY soon to do it. The later they wait, the worse it's going to be.

I just don't get it. It's been 11 weeks and he's still supposedly not even ready to suit up and be a backup, let alone actually play?

If he's a full-go in practice, he most definitely should be able to suit up and be there to play if something happened to Dak.
Just because he can suit up doesn't mean he is game ready. No need to rush it like last year (Do you really need a reminder?)

That lucks going to run out on Dak as well, he's had several passes that should or could be easily picked. That eagle game could have ended real quick on that last drive with that poor pass that was dropped by their db. I love Dak, but let's not pretend he's reinventing the wheel. I think we have the same record with a healthy Romo, and probably unbeaten.
That said, your not holding your breath every time Dak is hit like romo.
With the healthy Romo the irony of that statement

Sounds like we are being careful with him, which is a good thing imo

Lot of bull the guy could have played weeks ago. The reason is DAK, this might backfire on the Cowboys if he can't get it going against the Steelers and not having Romo as the backup. Or the Cowboys are playing games with the Steelers and announcing Romo last minute.

You guys realize that the day Dak losses is the day he gets benched and Romo becomes the starter. If Dak truly wants to remain the starting QB he will have to go an impossible 18-1.

Man, this QB situation is starting to really kill the fun of this otherwise great season for me. It's grown beyond tiring. Either name this Dak's team now so we can stop caring when/if Tony is going to come back, or name it Tony's team again. This has gotten ridiculous.

And that is completely idiotic if true. This team isn't going to go 15-1. If all they were waiting for is a loss (if that were to be the case), then they may as well just start Tony now if he's ready.

Dak loses? The team loses and Dak plays well. He's still the starter. Only way he is benched is if he struggles mightly for 4 quarters and the team has no confidence in him. He struggled against the Eagles 'cause they blitzed him nonstop. But he recovered in the late 4th and OT. Steelers don't have that kind of pass rush.

Luck won't run out on Dak. He's legit, and our future franchise QB. His main strength over Romo right now is durability. That plays a huge factor in who starts on Sunday's IMO.

.

Hmmm....that's tough for him to return and play 2 games in 5 days. He was having a difficult time doing so in recent seasons w/out this latest injury. My belief all along was Cleveland was the sweet-spot on the schedule to get him back out there. Even Pittsburgh to a lesser extent. Now that it appears that both opportunities will pass, if he's returning i believe it happens @ Minnesota.

I do agree with you that when he suits up, it's immediately as the starter.

Yeah, they showed a tape of Garrett kind of glaring at the press while formulating a response to a question about Romo, and the commentator described his demeanor as a, "One man mannequin challenge".:)

Why do you think he starts against Baltimore? You predicting an unimpressive performance by Dak or a loss this Sunday?

Nothing fishy about it... There have been articles for weeks about "riding the hot hand" They can bring Romo along slowly, because Dak is playing well. If Dak played like trash for an extended period, they would've wheeled Romo out there on a gurney. Dak is playing well, Romo can get stronger.

Kristi Scales said it best. Their probably won't be an announcement, but you will be able to tell by the practice reps and whose getting them with the first team.

Edit: Having said that, I tend to pay attention to locals than nationals. No knock on Schefter or Caplan, but the national guys aren't there everyday.

This image made me .
