the pass interference rule, is fine the way it is. It should be spot of the foul call because that's where the pass probably would have been completed to if it wasn't for the PI most of the time.

I think a spot foul makes sense too.

But I do wish they'd change the rules so that more contract were allowed. The existing rules are way too ticky-tacky....

I liked the 53 man game day roster as a couple pointed out.

Concerning vets...I would think the NFL would have or could make a program where so much money is taken out of a players check each time and put into an account that would gather interest over the years and keep it in an account for medical situations. Sort of like SS but a little different.

One idea I have had for years is rewarding a team's cap money according to how much charity money they raise.

The NFL would have a set list of charities (so they would be legit and not just charities that go back into the owners or teams pocket).

Say in 2007 the team raises $1 million in charity money for an organization on the NFL List. In 2008 a calculated addition would be added to a teams cap number.

There would be a max amount that would be allowed to add to a teams cap number of course.

So if a team earned $1 Million maybe they would get an extra $500K added to their cap number. If they raised $500K they would get $250 added to their cap number. I think the max out should be about a Million allowed to be added to the cap which would mean anything over $2 million raised would still only give a team $1 million added to the cap.

Like I said it would have to be from a list approved by the NFL and the NFL would have to make sure the money was given to the charities.

The numbers I gave were just examples but I like the idea of the teams having even more incentive to raise money to help a charity and or community and also at the same time help their own teams cap status.

#3 is stupid. it's cool for college but this is the big league where you pay for your mistakes

Any ideas on the block in the back rule on kick off and punt returns? Too damn many of them, that's all I know.

Yeah, pretty much the most exciting plays in the entire NFL and at least a third of the time there seems to be a flag calling it back. NFL is just stoopid for not figuring out a way to let these plays work.

I agree with all of them except the 3rd one about PI. That is a terrible idea. Say someone is flat out beat on a 60 yard pass, if they're just going to get 15 yards regardless, whats to stop them from just blatantly shoving the receiver?

CBs do that now, because a 40 or 60 yard penalty is better than giving up a TD, yes, there will be an increase in the amount of PIs, but it's not like mugging the receiver after getting beat for a sure TD is a foreign concept

Blocks in the back should not be illegal as long as they are above the waist.

It just gets old seeing a 40 or 50 yard penalty for some ticky tack contact that in many cases is caused by the WR. I think they can use a form of flagrant and non flagrant fouls when dealing with PI.

It's a lot better than it was a few years ago when they really were just chucking the ball downfield and getting bogus calls...at least now they're only ticky tacky instead of totally ridiculous. I don't think you need a rule change for that you just have to tell refs to let ticky tacky stuff go.

#4 is being addressed by many of the helmet manufacturers and Riddell who has the current contract have 2 other models in the NFL besides the standard. The other 2 look similar to Peyton Mannings and Greg Ellis hel, mets with the triangular ear holes and how it stretches towards the jaw. Unfortunately in a sport where the players get bigger, stronger, and faster in shorter periods of time the violent collisions and concussions that follow are hard to prevent and the last thing you want is a combine physicial that involves concussion history. Of course I guess you could make them play on moon bounces.

How about using some of the rules that are already there like illegal man down field on punt coverage. Does anybody have to wait till the ball is kicked anymore? That alone would bring a heck of a lot of exitement to the game.

1. I'd like to see the salary cap tweaked so that veterans -- especially guys who have played with one team for a long time -- are taken better care of. It would be great if there was some special cap relief where a player could be paid over the cap amount after a certain length of service with one team
.

probably something like for guys with over 6-8yrs in the league with the same team, you can resign them and it doesnt count on the cap

2. A better health care and disability program must be instituted. We're seeing what players are going through after their careers are over and it's silly to assume that they are able to afford the myriad doctor's bills that are essentially the result of their careers.

for some, ok...but for the vast majority who make tons of money over their even short careers it shouldnt be that much of a concern...if you make even 2-10 million, you should be set for life...medical bills included...the exception IMO are guys who have catastrophic injuries

3. Relaxed defensive pass interference penalties. It's time that the league thinks about changing the way it calls pass interference on the defense. Instead of having it be a spot of the foul call and an automatic first down, I'd like to see the NFL institute 15-yard and five-yard penalties for pass interference. Similar to how facemask penalties are called, there should be an option for a five-yard penalty with no first down in addition to the 15-yard penalty.

agree...too often games are affected by stupid PI calls (or non calls) because officials either are blowing it altogether or quietly showing bias in their calls

4. The NFL and NFLPA have to come up with a solution to help stem the concussion situation. Maybe it's time for a new helmet.

hey, why dont we just play flag football?

5. Players should return to picking the Pro Bowl participants. Too often, undeserving players are given the honor because they make enough noise to garner attention instead of producing on the field.

thats all fine and dandy, but underserving guys were getting voted in virtually every yr before the fans got involved with voting anyway
