It should be changed. Why Green Bay? I've always wondered that. Now if we were talking about the former, watered down, imitation league of yesteryear, before the merge, before the super bowl, when there were like 3 teams in competition- than alright. Green Bay is that. I mean if they want a cheap victory like that, then so be it, let the crybaby *******s have it. 3 Rings in 40+ years though, does not and never will constitute a town known for it's bringing home the "titles" however. And we all know it. So i guess no harm in letting them be what they want to be- if anything, it's comical.

i think it should be either boston or nyc. are those two the only cities to have won titles in the 4 major sports (football, basketball, baseball, hockey)?

maybe they are also called titletown cause their coach has his name on the SB trophy........that helps the titletown argument for GB

even if i dont like it........

How bout calling Philly...........CHOKE CITY, The City of Brotherly Hate, Filthachokia

didn't Pittsburgh secure the title of Blitzburgh in the 70s, or am I mistaken?

I don't get why it is so hard for some to grasp the concept of a nickname... For various reasons certain teams, players, cities, etc. are affectionately (or not so affectionately) given a metaphorical moniker by which they become literally known.

For some enlightenment on NFL nicknames, please refer here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_nicknames

These monikers don't have expiration dates. It is irrelevant that the initial reason they earned the nickname may no longer may exist or apply. Once a Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain, always "The Stilt". New York City will always be the "Big Apple". Life in New Orleans may be rather hard these days, but it will always be known as the "Big Easy". There are plenty of offensive lines that are fat, dumb, and happy but there will be only one Hogs. Cheesesteaks are called "Philly Cheese steaks" even though they are now made around the world. And yes, there is only one "America's Team".

One thing nicknames have in common is there are typically original. I cannot imagine another city would be smucky enough to be proud of a secondhand, hand-me-down name. If they are so great to lay to claim to Green Bay's name, they should already be great enough to have earned their own.

ESPN are jerks for holding this contest. Who died and gave them the right reassign names at will? I hope Green Bay protests loudly and rightly about this. Titletown belongs to Green Bay.

Normally, I would agree wholeheartedly, but you know how generically interchangeable sports nicknames are nowadays. Before long, The Dallas Cowboys will become known as the Pewter Pirates.

Hey. It could happen. /sarcasm off

Thanks Hostile.

There are few topics that can set me afire but this one did. I hate how our society has become one gimmick trick after another. No traditions anymore. What's next? If idiot youths get tired of spelling Mississippi with all those "s"s, "p"s and "i"s, we'll have a "Rename This State with One Syllable" contest. Intentionally misspelling words has already become socially acceptable. One word: pwned. Did I misspell that correctly?

If this generation keeps one with the "out with the old," the next generation is going to have an identity crisis. :)

i know alabama has been down for years, BUT, tuscaloosa is a candidate as far as college goes. 13 natl championships, 21 sec championships, bear bryant, most bowl games played, most bowl games won. namath, stabler, our guy leroy jordan, john hannah, ozzie newsome, bart starr, harry gilmer, bennett, thomas, the list goes on. but my vote is for dallas! although you guys r right espn will probably suck at the teat of gb and favre. but they have always been known as title town just as we r americas team. hostile is right on. im not arguing for a new title town in the pros just stating my opinion and not trying to set u guys off.
