Is the Bears' defense really that good? They gave up 200 yards rushing to Minn. yesterday and have been gashed in the run game all season long. If they don't get the big turnovers I think they can be had. MB3 time baby!

imo they just get all the lucky breaks, tipped balls, fumbles, weak schedules...but i still think they are a great defense

you don't get those lucky breaks if your not good. tommy would be a huge loss for them. the weakness on that team though is grossman. they will not go to the super bowl with grossman.1.3% qb rating, wow.

I agree with everyone who has said it: this is a huge blow the Bears.. it was argued at one point earlier in the season by Sports Illustrated that Tommie Harris should be the defensive player of the year.. he is constantly double teamed and still gets to the QB on a consistent basis.. he is arguably the Bears' most important piece (its either him or Urlacher)..

I gotta say, though, I hate to see this happen.. Tommie is my favorite non-Cowboy (and I don't like many non-Cowboys).. I am also a Sooners fan, and Tommie was always a class act.. I had the chance to interview him for my Christian sports radio show once, and he was by far the most genuine guy we ever interviewed.. some of you may not care, but he was also the most vocal about his faith of all the guys that we interviewed (and we interviewed a lot of big names).. he said that in college, it was tough to balance football, studying, and reading the Bible as much as he would like to, so he used to read it all the time while he was on the toilet.. :D

thats a big loss for the Bears as Harris is one of the best NT in the game if not the best. they still have other weapons on D obviously but him not being there is still huge

Wow! HUGE boost for the Cowboys if he's gone. That dude is the Reggie White of noses. The only thing I fear is what that front seven can do to our offensive line, and with him gone and Grossman playing like a scrub, I know we'll reach the Super Bowl.

Does Clayton know something the Chicago media doesn't?

Harris injury 'isn't season-ending'

By John Mullin
Tribune staff reporter

December 4, 2006, 3:54 PM CST

Bears Pro Bowl defensive tackle Tommie Harris underwent an MRI on his injured left knee Monday morning. While the exact extent of injury was not available, "this isn't a season-ending injury by any means," coach Lovie Smith said.

"We don't know exactly how long he'll be out but he has a sprained knee."

Players were given an extra day off this week because of the Monday night game next week in St. Louis and will resume practice Thursday.

When they do, Rex Grossman will be their quarterback. Period.

"We are not making a change," Smith reiterated, noting that to his thinking, Grossman has not lost confidence. And as far as giving him a break in favor of Brian Griese, "I don't know how much you get from being on the sidelines," Smith said.

Cornerback Nathan Vasher, who injured his right hamstring in the victory over Minnesota, will be evaluated later this week.
