IMO, it is a good move. I can see TT building their defense. Also, Tuberville did make Jason Campbell look good.

I think it is a good move by TT and Tuberville. He had a few good years at Auburn and will fit in well here. It will be interesting to have a different offensive strategy.

I would've tried to get Alabamas D Coordinator.

If I couldn't have got him it would've gone to Ruffin.

Well I'm quite pleased with this and quite pleased it didn't go to Kirby smart just because of Gerald myers alabama love.

Are you still down there and if so how is this playing locally?

Good choice.

They avoided the emotional choice and picked the best, most-proven candidate.

And Tuberville says he will keep the Air Raid offense. Supposedly he's bringing in Alabama's linebacker coach to be the defensive coordinator. I would like to see him keep McNeill as the special teams coach/recruiting coordinator. Maybe even give him the title of assistant head coach.

It's a bad move for so many reasons.

1)He wants to keep his offense. That offense doesn't allow your own defense be that good because it doesn't allow you to practice physical line play

2) Their offense throws TOP out. That offense works best when you move up and down the field scoring in quick drives. Or it has a lot of 3 and outs not wasting any time. This puts your defense on the field too much and wears your own defense out.

3) That offense won't be the same without Leach. Leach is the reason that offense works there.

Tuberville will probably try and change to a run type offense in 2 maybe 3 years max, if he's still there.

Great hire. Now I don't think they'll miss a beat from firing Leach.

I don't know why I've been posting on this so much because I'm not even a Tech fan. :) But I think Tuberville is a heck of a coach and a perfect fit.

Yep I am still down here and the general feeling down here is that the administration went for the big name to cover for the blunder they made.

Now that its done, I can't say I am disappointed with the hire. He is doing the right thing. Get your OWN staff in there, its YOUR team now. If that means out with Ruffin, then out with Ruffin and get your guy in there to run your D. The decision has been made now and there's no reason to look back now. Run with it, and do things the way you know how, and have proven to be succesfull in the past.

Don't cater to the fans and play football a certain way to make a town happy. Win football games which you've proven you can do.

I don't think thats fair to Ruffin, Tuberville, or the players. Thats exactly how cliques form, and exactly how teams crumble. Assemble a staff that blends all of YOUR ideals. Chemistry on a coaching staff is just as or even more important than through the players I feel.

He is doing the right thing by getting his own guys in here, to make a consistent common theme of ideas and way of doing things.

Besides if I am Ruffin I don't take a demotion after I have proven I am ready to be given a shot at bigger things.

I've read he wants to keep most of the staff intact. I don't think the situation goes well if that's true because it basically takes his style out of it. That's basically what got him fired at Auburn. It'll be really tough for him to do well in a competitive conference if he keeps the same staff

Hey Dawgs0916, quick question, are you going to that "Team Leach" event at memorial circle? Have you seen those commercials? Just curious. I will be at school Monday and may peek outside to see how many there are.

I think it is kind of a moot point now.

Looks like Smart is seriously considering an offer to become UGA's new defensive ccoordinator. Smart is a UGA grad.

I think they'll be betetr under Tubberville. He'll recruit like crazy and he almost always has good defensive teams. He's a good college coach.

They will not be better than they were under Leach. Leach took that program to a level it may not see. They could be decent under Tubberville but they won't be winning 8-11 games a year.

I'm going to go more out of curiosity, since clearly it's not going to make any sort of difference. Not sure what the point is.

Are you a student or faculty?

Maybe you should do some research on Tubberville.

He won at Auburn which is a lot easier to win at than Tech.
