According to ESPN, the top 10 D players are

Peppers, Stroud, Tommie Harris, Seymour
Urlacher, Merriman
Reed, Polamalu
Bailey, Hall

Bailey and Hall? They are big play corners that will make a pick after getting burnt the prior play. Teams don't even look at Newman, it's not worth it. No Roy?

No Demarcus Ware on that list? I'm shocked

For the record, the article is actually titled "10 defenders to avoid" not 10 best defenders.

I never said he wasn't good did I? I was just clarifying the title of the thread. While I agree that they are all good players, if I'm puting together a list of players to avoid, Roy Williams is ABSOLUTELY on my top 10 list, ask anyone he's ever hit.

3. LB Shawne Merriman, Chargers
He is a lot like Peppers in that he can control the line of scrimmage. What makes Merriman different is that he plays standing up and can get a running start at the snap. He's almost impossible to plan for because the Chargers move him around so much

As a hitter RW is probably the best in the business right now....but he is a bit soft in coverage as we know.

So let me pose this question for you. If Dallas moved D.Ware around as much as San Diego moved Merriman would you see the same results? As you posted that's the reason he's difficult to game plan for.

I'm not sure he has enough talent that it would make a difference if we moved him around more....just like ESPN alluded too, guys like Peppers and Merriman are difference makers.

And just like I said, you can't contain these type of untamed beasts....you can only hope to limit them.

This is even more reason why Newman should be on this list. I mean c'mon, Bailey and Hall. I give Hall credit b/c he has shown some skills. But Chump is so freaking overrated it's unbelievable. He jumps at everything, if QBs would just double-pump him he'd get beat every time. His picks are always thrown right into his chest, wow that must be tough. And we all remember TO breaking his legs, arms, and back on that juke last year.

Newman and Hall should be listed as the top 2 corners in the league.

I question Stroud, Harris, Merriman, and Hall.

Hall is in his third year and he is going to be really good, but I will hold out judgement until this season is over.

I'm not saying they arn't great players, but come on. The top 10?

:lmao2: alrighty then. I didn't realize that you were saying that there was a tremendous physical difference between Ware and Merriman. Must be that Merriman is bigger faster and stronger huh? Oh, wait...:banghead:

I'm out, my head hurts.

Listen.....I have been scouting professional athletes for quite some time, it's kinda like a hobby for me....it's not that Merriman is bigger, faster, stronger, etc....it's called RAW TALENT. This kid just 'has it', and you can't compensate for the intangibles in this league...

Oh, I didn't realize that I was talking to Gil Brandt, please accept my apologies! You really should send your resume in to the Boys, you are wasting your talent doing whatever you are doing for a living.

Thank you Gil.

Seriously though, I'm out. g'day.

Apparently the grass is always greener and people eyes are always bigger then their stomachs.

Be happy with what you have. We have the number 1 D against the run and there isn't a NFL teams whose offense scares me like in years past.

I guess some talk just to hear themselves.

If it is "kinda like a hobby" for you, you are not a scout.

Funny that you should mention that the kid has "it". Just curious is that "it" the same thing Drew Bledsoe has?
