Patriots, Steelers, Seahawks early Las Vegas favorites to win SB LI
http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id...early-las-vegas-favorites-win-2017-super-bowl

Three teams that watched Super Bowl 50 from home -- the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers -- head into the offseason as the favorites to win next year's Super Bowl.

Cowboys .. 16-1
Giants .. 40-1
Commanders .. 40-1
Eagles .. 50-1

and you won't even get any odds at all of there being less than 5 threads this week saying how we must improve our D, screw the QB position...

some bets even vegas won't take.

According to those odds, the 6 top NFC teams in 2016 will be:

NFC

Seattle 8-1
Green Bay 10-1
Arizona 10-1
Carolina 10-1
Dallas 16-1
Minnesota 20-1

I dont really see the other east teams, that far behind dallas, but I thought Carolina would win the SB lol.
Atlanta 40-1
New York Giants 40-1
Washington 40-1
Chicago 40-1
Detroit 40-1
New Orleans 40-1
Philadelphia 50-1
Tampa Bay 50-1
Los Angeles 50-1
San Francisco 60-1

These odds every year out of Vegas are more to play on the passion and play the Cowboys get as a brand than a real indication of the idea that they are legitimate contenders.

They know people are passionate both ways and putting a 16-1 on there is going to drum up the action from both sides.

How is Denver not favored?? With that D and Brock most likely at the helm they can repeat.

It's based on public perception and how much money is being put where. The goal of a vegas oddsmaker is to get the betting on both sides as even as possible, and just take the vig from the bet.

What is this, a crossover episode?

They share a conference with New England and Pittsburgh. Basically, a weakened Denver team next year stacks up worse against the field than they did this year.

I personally view the Cowboys odds in this list as more of a statement on the quality, or lack thereof rather, of the rest of the NFL teams rather than the Cowboys themselves. The NFL is bottom heavy right now, which makes any team that appears even a little above the non-elites (bottom half of teams) seem border-line elite in turn.

I do not even think if you pinned down a Vegas bookie that you could get them to admit that a 4-12 team deserves the odds. Nobody else would get that.

They are a marquee team and tend to hover where they have been historically. The relevance factor plays heavily into it.

We could have another 4-12 season just like this past one next year and you would see the same kind of line. It will take a lot for them to budge.

It is just like the television games. Dallas will get them as long as they are semi-relevant. Same with the odds.

Not with our d. Losing Hardy, we need an upgrade for the passrush and big improvement in the secondary.

Every team has flaws. Look how pathetic Denver's entire offense was the whole season, including the super bowl. Some teams are powered by their offense, others by their defense. If our defense can do enough to just hold up and not give up 35+ points a game then we should be fine.

this team Is a longgggggggggg way from winning a superbowl they don't have the defense or coaching to make it.

After watching Denver's pass rush yesterday we also have to replace Doug Free before we're serious about winning a Super Bowl.

Not surprising at all. Healthy Romo makes us contenders. Simple as that.

Yep
12-4 in the last full season and 3-4 last year with him. 75% is not bad

It was actually better than that, but I won't split hairs.

As far as I know, there has never been a team in modern NFL history that picked in the top 5 of the draft and won the SuperBowl the exact same year.

The closet would be the Rams in 1999, who picked 6th and won the SB that year (mainly due to Kurt Warner becoming the starting QB).

Not saying it cant happen with a healthy Romo, but the odds are not looking good...........especially with our "allergic to turnovers" defense.

Never know man.

Nobody would've picked Carolina this year.

That's what is fun about Salary Cap football.

I think salary cap football sucks. There will never be another dynasty like the 90's Cowboys. No more great teams in the league , just watered down football.
