I think salary cap football sucks. There will never be another dynasty like the 90's Cowboys. No more great teams in the league , just watered down football.

Just curious, how many more teams participate in the playoffs than before free agency and a cap were installed?

16-1 favorites defense is a mess, entire teams health is in parallel, O line is suspect but Vegas thinks

I don't know the exact numbers, but the current NFL consists of mediocre teams. The overall quality of the teams has hurt the game itself.

I seriously doubt we even win a Super Bowl in the next 10 years, probably longer. How is Jerry, after 20 years, suddenly going to change and build a winning football team? He's too concerned about building monuments to himself. I mean, having a swimming pool and a restaurant in the practice facility is more important than hiring a real head coach and building a winner. Anyone who thinks Jerry actually cares about winning over $$$ is a fool. The evidence is right here in front of our faces.

If those are true sentiments, why stick around? Now that sounds really foolish, or just blowhart.

its called advanced ticket sales the cowboys have won three playoff games in twenty years haven't had a deep playoff run and are not any closer to the superbowl regardless of what vegas or tony or jerry says. When they get a gm and front office and coaching staff and defense fixed then maybe they will be in the mix but until then its just more talk and more middle of the road and bottom feeders.

The hype favoring a Cowboys return to glory is normally a predictable event. I won't even consider it unless they demonstrate very tangible proof. To put it simply, there are too many holes at double digit positions right now. Forget about taking a Super Bowl run seriously. We won't qualify as a viable SB contender in 2016. The draft and free agency may help to some extent but not enough.

This probably is the answer to this pop quiz. The team should re-enter the Playoffs, this season although.

Jerry already counted on advancing ticket sales when he financed the Ultra Modern Stadium while the Country's Financial Community, collapsed.

Vegas sets the odds to get money on both sides of the bet. This thread is arguing both ways. Seems like its a good line to me.

Patriots, Steelers, Seahawks early Las Vegas favorites to win SB LI
http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id...early-las-vegas-favorites-win-2017-super-bowl

Three teams that watched Super Bowl 50 from home -- the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers -- head into the offseason as the favorites to win next year's Super Bowl.

Cowboys .. 16-1
Giants .. 40-1
Commanders .. 40-1
Eagles .. 50-1

So I'm not the only one who feels the same way. Vegas is smart. It has to be.

I wouldn't put a lotof stockin what vegas says the odds are last year they had the cowboys with the fourth best odds to make the super bowl and we see how that turned out.

Methinks those oddsmakers gambled in favor of Romo's and Bryant's good health.

[edit]

Perhaps "last year" was 2014? If so "methinks those oddsmakers never knew Dean Blandino existed."

Every team has flaws. Look how pathetic Denver's entire offense was the whole season, including the super bowl. Some teams are powered by their offense, others by their defense. If our defense can do enough to just hold up and not give up 35+ points a game then we should be fine.

In view of the competition the Cowboys will be facing in their division, it's realistic to consider that a distinct possibility. Of course, how far they might be able to get after possibly qualifying will be up for some serious discussions at a later date.

This team stands to get an influx of talent in the draft but I'm not counting on much help in free agency. Jerry and Stephen have committed themselves to protecting their salary structure nowadays and getting bold in free agency may very well not be in their plans just yet. We'll see.

Realistically, rookies can only manage to get a team so far, in that their degree of help is compromised by their inexperience. Conversely, getting Romo and Dez back into the fold should resolve some damning issues that plagued us last year. As always, our fortunes will still be very interesting to keep up with, come what may.

I do not even think if you pinned down a Vegas bookie that you could get them to admit that a 4-12 team deserves the odds. Nobody else would get that.

They are a marquee team and tend to hover where they have been historically. The relevance factor plays heavily into it.

We could have another 4-12 season just like this past one next year and you would see the same kind of line. It will take a lot for them to budge.

It is just like the television games. Dallas will get them as long as they are semi-relevant. Same with the odds.

We were 33/1 before we went 12-4 in 2014.

I never really say this but I feel that THE COWBOYS WILL BE IN THE SUPER BOWL next year.

1. The Cowboys are not a 4-12 team without all the injuries.
2. We get to play a last place schedule. We play the Bears, Lions, Ravens, Bengals and Bucs at home and Browns, Packers, Vikings, 49ers, and Steelers on the road. Only 2 top 5 qbs we'll be facing and that's important imo.
3. We are getting to pick 4th in every round so we should, at least, get 2 players that should make an impact.
4. This is the most important reason, the Super Bowl will be played in Houston so how fitting would it be for them (the biggest Cowboys haters on the planet) to get to host our party. That'll be something that they could never live down.

Put me down for a grand

The 12-4 2014 season - they had us at like 30-1 odds. We were supposed to have the worst defense in NFL history. So like any idiot, I put 500 on it. I knew we weren't that bad and with Romo anything can happen.

To this day, I'd still fight Dean Blandino if I saw him in the street.

I had no doubt we woulda beat Seattle again, and probably dog walked the Broncos (they weren't half the team, er defense, they were this year).
