ESPN: Vote - What should Dallas do at quarterback once Tony Romo is healthy?

Tony is going to start when he's ready to play, probably against Philly. That's because 2 of people in the 28% voting for him to start are Jason and Jerry. :)
Yep, we can vote all we want but only 1 vote matters and that's Jerry's. I don't even think Garrett's vote counts.

While some view Romo as the team's best option for the postseason, his injury history combined with Prescott's strong play has left many in Cowboys Nation intrigued by the rookie's prospects. The Oct. 30 contest is a date with the rival Eagles, who knocked Romo out for eight weeks in 2015, beginning the team's tailspin en route to a 4-12 finish.

I haven't clicked the link yet but before I do...

If we are 4 - 2 going into the bye week, you have got to keep Dak in there. Let Romo take longer to heal. Perhaps the rest of the season. He can be the best backup QB in the NFL.

What do I think will happen? Romo will be run back out there in week 8 and my head will explode.

you do what needs to be done, like in NY with Warner and Eli. Warner knew Eli was their guy.

What needs to be done. The orangization needs to tell Romo hes the back up. This is not a bad thing, its not going to hurt him. It is going to pro long him and get him ready to be a coach. Dak is the future. Play him now, let ROmo help out. Dont play Dak like Parcells did. Even in this game, dont play Dak all game. If w have win, put Sanchez out thre, so many people are thrilled we signed him, get your money out of him.

Dak is it, ride this wave.

I will concern myself with this question for when Romo is ready to return.
It does nothing now for me to vote or say yes or no.

However my first thoughts were Tony will play when he is cleared. And even with Dak's success and the teams success. I will still lean to it is Tony's team. He plays. But will still wait until he he cleared to play.

I'm in the weird category of:

1) Start Dak for the rest of the year.
2) Draft a quarterback in the first round.

Dak is the best option right now. He may be the best option for the next decade. But until he starts knocking out 25-yard down-and-ins with regularity, I still want to see what the offense would look like with a potentially elite downfield throwing talent.

Haha...ok, whatever you say bud. Next it will be, "I need to see him make a two point conversion before I'm convinced Dak is the real deal". Give me a break, he's a rookie that keeps progressing. He's hardly reached his peak.

Jerry Jones wants one thing and one thing only, a Super Bowl rings that cannot be traced back to anything Jimmy Johnson did. He is obsessed about creating a legacy that he was a successful GM in the NFL.

Jerry Jones will favor the quarterback that gives him the best chance to win a championship and that is Dak Prescott. There is nothing to gain by slowing Dak's progress in obtaining the necessary experience and additional knowledge. He is the future and , based on the results, there is no reason fo him not to be the present.

Anyone who believes that Jerry is going to favor the guy with the biggest contract over performance doesn't understand why NFL players, coaches and work as hard as they do. This is professional sports and the goal is not to justify a player's contract.

Dak is not ready to play a team with an elite QB. He's unlikely to be ready to play with a good to better defense.

That's why Romo will start when ready.

wonderful, whats that getting you? at least with starting Dak, we ride the season and get him experience. What does playing Romo get you?

Trade Romo, love the guy, but you can still get something good for him, Dak is the future. That said, I don't see JJ letting this happen.

Ill take the cowards vote. I have no idea. If Dak keeps progressing he will be hard to sit. Romo first and foremost needs to be 100 percent healthy.

If we lose the next two then Romo is definitely back after the bye (if healthy). If we beat Green Bay then Dak may very well hold off Romo for a few more games,,, but eventually Romo gets his team back. All pie-in-the-sky hypothetical of course, no way in hell we beat Green Bay unless DLaw comes in and suddenly the defense comes together (fingers crossed). Really, I don't think Dak is capable yet of racking up serious points against tougher defenses. Romo adjusts, reads and delivers a lot quicker than Dak right now.

Is this a trick question?

Well, I'll answer anyway.....

You get an elite QB with years of experience vs a rookie who hasn't beaten anyone yet....even though he looks good for a rookie.

I'm sure a bunch of beer gut, not very discerning fans will make this poll 100-0 in favor of Dak, but either way Tony is going back in. And when he does -- and it may be hard to believe right now, so trust me on this -- but Tony also throws a mean 5 yard pass to Jason Witten. We'll be fine.
you mean a basket full of deplorables?

Make him a coach..

Or send him to a taxidermist for Jerrah's office at the Star.
