ESPN: Vote - What should Dallas do at quarterback once Tony Romo is healthy?

I've been one of the ones saying Romo should get his job back as soon as he's healthy, despite loving what Dak has done. But here's my thing... ok we got Cinci at home coming up. If Dak when's that game it'll be extremely impressive. But... if he goes into Lambeau in 2 weeks and beats Aaron Rodgers... the job is his. You don't yank a player after that. Don't care what the circumstances are. If he comes back down to Earth a few weeks later, fine. But at least ride out the wave of momentum.

I agree completely agree with you. I think the next 3 games will give us our answer on what to do. If Dak can come out and win 2 of the next 3 games I really don't see how Romo gets his starting job back. I love what Dak has done the last 4 games and if he keeps improving and winning this will be Romo's last year here. I respect everything Romo has done but I think the answer will be obvious and even Romo himself (if he's being honest with himself) will know his time is up.

Its 72% to 28% in favor of Dak at the moment.

Of course it is...Ha Ha... The only two votes that matter are Jerry Jones & Jason Garrett. Romo is going to
get an opportunity to reclaim his job...Mark-it. If he gets hurt or stinks up the joint, then a change will be made
not before.

there was a point when we all knew Danny White just couldn't get it done even though he was a very good qb for us for a long time. Romo = White
I think Garrett's experience as a player is going to shape this call.

He caddied for Aikman and played some good games but yielded to Aikman the starter when the time came.

I understand that.

Romo will be back.

His problem is the team and fans are going to be expecting more from Tony.

Can he handle this without splitting the team.?

That is pretty much all Dak-offs have to cling to at this point as Prescott's final 2 games approach. The hope that injury prevents Tony from being able to hand off to Zeke, dink and dunk and watch the wins pile up... and no one mentions Dak again until training camp.

Dak Offs? Are you not a Cowboys fan? Cant imagine how any Cowboys fan would not like Dak Prescott. You are going to be one unhappy guy the next 15 years.

You should show a little respect. The kid has gotten us to 3-1 thus far. Would you rather he hand off the ball to Romo at 1-4 or 0-4?

People are fleeing the Romo camp faster than cockroaches when the light comes on.

Anyone wanting to go back to Romo at this point is more concerned about his feelings than what is best for this team/franchise. No other way to describe it.

You gotta be kidding me right?

Lets see how Dak plays against GB and Cincy. After those 2 games we will know what we have in Dak. Either way Romo is the starter against the Eagles if that is when he is ready.

All of this bench Romo crap, crazy talk.

Romo comes back against Philly, we run the table, win the ring and then he rides off into the sunset. Thats the way this thing plays out.

"Dak-offs" are Romo haters in disguise who act like we are witnessing Joe Montana in his prime with every 4 yard pass and trying to divide the fan base. In other words, go find a mirror.

Of course I'm pleased with Dak's performance, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. No way am I ready to say he's anything more than a backup until he starts throwing with anticipation, downfield and to receivers who aren't wide open. Even a terrible QB like Blaine Gabbert can survey a field and find an occasional avenue to loft the ball downfield (netting him a 35 yard TD and what should have been another long TD, if he wasn't terrible... at least he saw it). The fact that our "QB of the future" never sees any big plays worth trying (or even worse when he just doesn't see them) is Weeden-level disturbing.

Ah, I see. You are a Romo lover to the point where you cant see clearly and hate Dak.

No problem.

But Im not interested in talking to irrational Dak haters. Dak is the best thing to happen to this team since Troy Aikman. Cant imagine anyone looking negatively upon that for whatever reason.

Buzz off, Dak lover. Only two more games, and you go back under your rock where you belong. I wish I could see the frustration on your face as Tony hands off to Zeke and the commentators remark how much "poise" it took.

You have to be kidding? Dak is a rookie 4th round QB and you are expecting him to play like Joe Montana before you like him or to get excited about him? Don't be a DOLT....

The fact Dak is playing like he is already + Zeke should make any Cowboys fan excited about the future. With that said, Romo will get the starting job back. Jerry is not paying him $13 million a year to sit on the bench. If Romo is healthy (I am not sure he will ever be able to stay that way again). He'll play so don't worry. There is plenty of time for Dak but at least we can rest easy if Romo gets hurt.

Come on guys, lets have and show more respect for each other. We can disagree and still not make up names or tell people to "back off" someone disagrees with you, so be it, many here disagree with me and most i respect their opinions So what. at the end of the day its a game and we are all Cowboy fans. (most of us are)

I'm gonna quote Mickey Spagnola and say "follow the money." The Cowboys aren't paying Romo 20 million a year to sit the bench.
Winning means more. If that means starting Dak over Romo then that is what they will do. They won't take too many losses to make the change.

Yep I love Dak. No question. And I will be glowing with glee if Romo comes back, plays well, and doesnt get hurt.

At this point, the only explanation is that you are some Commander or Philly troll. Only a turd like that would be hating on Dak.

It would be nice if intentional controversy egging media organizations like ESPN wouldn't throw gasoline on the bonfire too.

As one of a few on this board that pushed, pulled, begged and yelled for the Cowboys to draft Dak in the 3rd round of the
draft, where were you Dak-lovers before the draft. I know...taking a siesta, right? Now comes all this Romo hate and
Dak forever crap this is typical of the fair-weather fandom on this board. I knew that Dak has a great opportunity to lead
this team for at least a decade but, Romo has earned his place on the team and is the best seasoned QB to lead this
team until he can't anymore. Everyone may be right that he can no longer play at a high level & stay healthy but, shouldn't he be
allowed to mount that saddle for one last season if he gets himself well and ready to play. Just like Leary, you should not lose
your starting position due to injury... That was Landry's rule and it's still good enough for me today with Romo.

Thread question:

If a poster states he or she enjoys watching Prescott and/or positively anticipates watching his career unfold in Dallas, can he or she truly be labeled a "Dak hater?"

Thoughts?

<Moderator hat>

Stop. The. Name-calling.
