IRVING, Texas -- When the subject of 10,000 yards was broached to Jason Witten two weeks ago, he joked, “What’s taking so long?” The Dallas Cowboys tight end entered the season with 9,799 yards, so if just carried through with his career per game average, he should have reached the mark already., “I really didn’t think it would be Week 5 when I was reaching that,” Witten said, “but change in plans.

I hope we look back and appreciate his greatness. He's kind of like the Emmitt of the TE position. He's not overly flashy. He runs like he's on stilts. His jukes are worse than my daddy trying to dance. And yet he's always open. Go figure.

And except for an occasional drive-killing penalty, which is what we've come to expect from him, the guy is pretty good.

He's one slow guy that seems to always be open and ready to get tackled once he gets the ball.

Witten's been playing pissed off this year and I love it. He made Kenny Vaccaro look like an UDFA.

Not sure I get, or agree with this backhanded compliment.

If he has one flaw, it's his ability to get a false start. or some sort of procedure penalty.

He has had a few false starts in his day, but I don't agree that his jukes are bad... cuz I've never seen him juke anyone during his career. I've seen him side step a tackler or two, but never a juke.

Yeah 2012 and his rookie year he was Flozell like with the false starts. I don't know if I would call a false start drive killing though.

One day Im going to be watching the Cowboys without Romo and Witten and it will be a sad day for me and all Cowboy fans. The Romo to Witten connection is going to be part of Cowboy history that will be gone but not forgotten.

Get out of my head.:p

About a week ago, a friend and I were talking about Witten's overall worth to the team. I kept saying the guy has been a near perfect cog in this offense forever but the stupid penalties keep him from being perfect. In my opinion, Witten is one of the best tight ends in history and my list is short. I can only imagine just how much better his greatness would be if not for the inopportune procedural mistakes?

His jukes before the catch are actually quite good and effective and still gets him open. Just ask Vacarro.

Not sure I agree WG - I'll take the VERY few warts this guy has every day and twice on Sunday - And on top of that Witten has missed 1 GAME in his career ... with a broken jaw no less!!!

N.A.I.L.E.D.

Probably the best TE the Cowboys have ever had. Move over Billy Joe and Jay. Make room for Witt!

Success of the running game has lowered his production, and I think he will be fine with that, as they translate into wins for the team.

Would be nice on Sunday, he gets his 10,000 mark at home, plus 6 catches puts him at 900 for his career. Can he accomplish both, it would be sweet.

This guy has been my favorite currently Cowboy player since the day he arrived here. He's the guy I wanted them to draft the year he was coming out and I was so pleased that they did. I couldn't be more pleased with a Cowboys player.

I like keeping our own, too bad we couldn't do that with Ware, and then fans turn on him. Our fans can be heartless sometimes.
