Parnell has been your pet cat for years, but so far, the only playing time he has been able to get is splitting time with Doug Free, who was the worst tackle in the league. What does that say about Parnell?

Some of the local reporters said that the OL coach wanted to play Parnell full time in 2012, but that "management" wanted to stay with the more experienced Free. The compromise was the rotation.

It was again reported in 2013 that the OL coaches really like Parnell but he missed all but 1 preseason game with an injury and was visibly limping in that game. By the time he was fully healthy, Free was playing better; however, it was still reported on the radio by one of the local Cowboys beat reporters that Parnell received extended practice reps with the starters for a couple of weeks because the OL coach or OL coaches were contemplating playing him. The reporter speculated that Jerry promised Free that he would be the starter if he would take the pay cut.

Early in training camp, Jerry made a statement about Woicik measuring Parnell's punch as the best that he had ever seen. A local beat report on the radio speculated that the reason Jerry would even know this type of information is because the OL coach was making a case for Parnell possibly becoming the starter but had to get Jerry approval to do it.

Re: Weems, I thought he looked terrible in preseason. I've heard the Cowboys see a lot of potential in him, but I don't see it. Wondering what the plans are.

He has the physical tools. He needs experience and mostly work on his technique.

I tend to think Weems and Parnell are too tall speaking in general. I don't think that means neither can play there for that reason. Personally I would rather have a player built like those two at tackle but if tackle is good then play them elsewhere. I think Parnell would be great pulling or moving in general. I'd put the best OL I could out there. They need to find some snaps for Parnell if he's healthy. JMO.

Weems is 6-5 which is not uncommon for a Guard. Mike Iupati is 6-5.

There are the rare cases of much taller Guards. SF's other starter is Alex Boone 6-8, 300.

Parnell is listed at 6-6, 311 but he never had a Combine or Pro Day to get an official measurement. He appears taller than Free who is also listed at 6-6.

He does look taller. Bigger frame, too. I don't have a huge problem with tall guards but they need to be able to stay low and a low center of gravity helps. I like to see guards with massive legs and butt to help drive and anchor.

I don't think Weems played any regular season games. All of his snaps in preseason games were at LT.

Free played part of 1 preseason game at OG.

I have not heard any reports on Parnell practicing OG.

He got some snaps there but Free got the most. They wanted to see how he looked at T for the most part.

Brady 6 of 21 256 yd 3 td 1 int 97.6
Brees 13 of 33 584 yd 4 td 3 int 88.7
Romo 10 of 29 441 yd 5 td 3 int 82.9

pass thrown 31-40 yards
Rodgers 5 of 9 216 yd 3 td 0 int 140.0
Romo 8 of 17 327 5 td 1 int 108.5
Brady 6 of 15 256 yd 3 td 1 int 99.3
Brees 8 of 26 310 yd 2 td 3 int 63.5

What? Not including the 21+ yds? Wonder why?

If you're including 21-30 yard throws, then your post makes absolutely no sense.

You said, "if Romo throws deep, you'll see the same results as in 2012." So if you're including 21-30 yards, then you either forgot what year it is, or forgot that Romo had 56 attempts of 21+ yards in 2013.

Whichever the case, on throws of 21+ yards, he had 9 TD/5 INT in 2012, and 8 TD/1 INT in 2013. In neither season were TD and INT "almost even."

Lets dive into the numbers a little deeper, against the Eagles and Saints, teams who had absolutely quit playing in the second half when we played them. Against these ridicules defenses Romo had 9tds and 0ints. As you recall the eagles had quit because Andy was out and the Saints lost their HC and DC, they were the worst.

. Against the other teams (13 games) he was 19tds and 19ints. So against teams who (showed up) he was even in ratio. I'm so glad we rewarded him with a huge contract.
