Let me see if I can confuse you more. lol.

We've had 1 Techs here for years in the 3-4. We haven't had any 3 Techs.

At least by scheme. We played 5.1.5 along the front (Ware and Spencer were 7s) --admittedly Hatcher may have played some true 3 tech under Wade who allowed guys to just do what they do best scheme or no scheme.

Ratliff is a 1 and wants to die(or at least retire) a 1. Lissemore is a back up 1. Brent is an ideal 1 except he'll be in jail covering his number 2. But he may be back in a year. If we get 2 years of Ratliff, have Lissemore as depth and get Brent back in a year, 1 isn't really much of a need at all. Especially considering we have a bunch of 7th rounders doing the job.

In the Tampa 2, the 4-3 3Tech is the dude. He is the pass rusher and inside force. That's really, really hard to find. If you think Sheldon Richardson can do that and don't take him your(i.e. whatever GM) nuts.

End of the day if I saw Vince Wilfolk here as the 1 I'd jump on that. I don;t though. The best of the 1's is probably Sly Williams and to me he is a 1 who wants to be a 3.

Very nice post. Makes a lot of sense.

Kiper isn't much better. What always gives me a chuckle, is during the draft, they show "Mel Kiper's Best Available", and a round later, those top 5-6 players are still there. Good job Mel.
That happens to every draft guy and every teams board. (in 2010) Cowboys had Sean Lee and Navarro Bowman as first round talents. Morgan Burnett a 2nd. Then the other way they had Anthony Davis in the 3rd SF took him high in the 1st. Patrick Robinson a 3rd and he went late 1st.

Someone is really gonna draft TE Tyler Eifert over Dion Jordan and Tavon Austin???:laugh2:

Why would Miami take G Chance Warmack when they need a starting tackle and 2 starting CBs?

Why would a team take such a risk on DJ Hayden in the 1st after he just had heart issues???

Justin Pugh to Atlanta???? why???? they just re-upped Sam Baker to a 6 year deal and invested 3rd round pick on a RT last year..

Still has Eddie Lacy going round 1 even though he couldn't even finish his pro day??? Oh boy:confused:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

This has to be the saddest mock I've seen on the internet. I seriously could poke a half dozen more holes in this:D

That's because these players will be the most overrated players on Mel's board. It would be true no matter who was doing the analysis. There will be a few players than one analyst loves that others do not, and they'll end up being treated as "bargains" or "best available" once the talking heads get moving..

That's right.
Everyone's board is different. Just because someone was picked at a certain slot does not remotely mean they should have been taken there.

Until a few years pass, you really won't know if the statements of "overrated" or "underrated" were correct.

For example, if some analyst last year had Alfred Morris as a best available in the 5th round, yet no team took him in that round, it turns out that the analyst was right. The guy ends up going inthe 6th round gains 1600 yards his rookie year. He could never play another down again and he already earned that 6th round contract.
