Even though its hard too pick a Favorite... who are you rooting for?

I'm telling you guys...I know DBs. Alan Ball is going to be a good Free Safety. If he isn't I'll be pretty surprised.

I think Ball would play FS very well for us but I would be a bit disappointed if he won the job over Hamlin because I had/have high hopes for Michael Hamlin and it would be disappointing if he couldn't win the starting job this season.

Ball could do a very nice job at FS but I believe Hamlin has something special, I just hope he can bring it out this year and for many years to come.

This Ball/Hamlin thing will go just like Scandrick/Jenkins. They will both start 2 preseason games hopefully and Ball will be invisible as usual. Don't see what everybody sees in that guy.

Regardless who wins the starting role, the competition is no longer at the level that consisted of...
Ken Hamlin - no upside, already playing as good as he will ever be.
Watkins - has never shown the ability to start since drafted.
Ball - young, undersized, extremely raw.

Now you have..
Ball - seasoned now, full understanding of the defense and role, has added 20lbs to his frame since drafted.
Mike Hamlin - prototype size, 1st full offseason in this system can do wonders ,if he can play with speed, has the best chance to compete with Ball.
AOA - great size/speed package, that you love at FS, hope hes a quick study.
FA - wouldnt surprise me to see a FA brought in before camp, just to add to the comp, but not the high priced variety, unless something tragic happens.

I like the competition going in to TC, with the job basically up for grabs, even with Ball being the early front runner, this will be one of the best battles all camp.
