Even though its only the first preseason game

To me, it appears nothing has changed. The first team speacil teams were awful. We start off with a pentaly that backed us up in the endzone. Also, how many years is it going to take the coaches to figure out Stanback can't return kicks. The 2nd-3rd-4th teams were absolutley awful. I hate to have injuries on this team because we have no depth. I thought Lattimore look really good though but who else shined? The recievers past Hurd and Austin are all frauds. I was expecting someone to look good out there like the Raiders young recievers but they were shut down by the Raider db's.

I know its only the first pre season game but were starting off like last year. If you look at the Raiders they just looked like they wanted it alot more than us. That has been a knack on this team before, players play uninspire at times. Tom Cable looks like he can coach a bit.

Besides Lattimore, I thought our first team offense look good as well. I was disappointed with our first team defense however. I know we were missing our starting DBs but we were playing Oakland, a horrible offense.

Stanback had two good returns. No one blocked for him on the first return of the game, but they straightened that out later on in the game.

The special teams played pretty well considering a whole bunch of ROOKIES out there for the FIRST time.
 
The first kickoff of the preseason we have "holding, number whatever" and we were on our own 3 yard line. How many times have we heard this the last 3 seasons. Coming off last season that should not of happened on the opening kickoff. Urgency. You can not deny that this team lacked that last season. Buleurer kicked well, Ill give him that.


Our recievers, was anyone impressed by anybody on the depth chart past Hurd? That concerns me. We do have four strong recievers and 2 strong TE's but Hurd and Austin get injured all the time.

Our Dline, how many sacks did we have last night?

Our backup db's probably couldnt even cover Frosty the Snowman last night.

Do we have any quality OLineman besides the starters and Holland?


These are the things we have to figure out by December.
 
you could insert nearly every team in place of the cowboys and have the same concerns.

They aint all gonna be probowlers.

and it was tashad choice who was called for the hold on the kick off, think we should cut him?


and L O friggin L that you think that our defense won't get sacks, puhlease.
 
I didn't think any of the first team squads played poorly. Offense struggled at first but started clicking toward the end of their time on the field and the defense would not have given up a TD in the first half were it not for that gigantic PI call. There were alot of things to be concerned about last night but I'm not going to pass judgement after the first pre season game.
 
Four, come on, Im not saying to cut anybody, Im just saying we need some accountabilty. How many drives last season and in the playoff loss to the Giants did we have "holding number 76, hands to the face 75, offsides on the dline(they have all been guilty of it) etc. When does it end with our players that mean something like Choice. If we want to win we need to elimnate those penatlys and it doesnt start week one in TBay but now. Is it any suprise that NE and I beileve Indy are always the least penalize teams in the league. I dont want to sound like a negative guy but come on, Im tired of losing and I want to win this year. We cant baby these players any more. Their way has got us nothing.
 
Cowboys1, that attitude of letting things go(ST,penatlys,etc) has gotten us how far in the past 3 seasons? Thats why we need to fix it now.
 
You have 2 options when reading such a thread:

A- Realize that the first pre-season game is a realistic preview of the future, SUCH AS THIS 2002 FORESHADOWING

or

B- Realize that the first preseason game is nothing more than a glorified scrimmage where no one tries except the scrubs who won't make the team in 2 weeks.

This may happen in Washington, but I can guarantee you Romo and his Boyz were trying and so was our 1st team D. I believe our backups were trying too, they just aren't as good. That's why they're backups..
