Every game counts for Henson

Although I didn't think Henson played that bad yesterday, it was not that great either. He was under pressure on some plays, but simply threw some bad passes, and really only one great pass. Chang did okay, but by no means did he look any better than Henson.

That being said, I think Henson's time to impress is limited. I think he has a short window to show something to Jones, Parcells, and company. That window falls between right now, and the draft on the last Saturday in April. I feel like that is the plan. If Henson wows and looks head and shoulders above not only Chang, but the other starting QB's in the NFLE, then I think he will entrench himself as our future starter in Dallas in two years. However, if continues to look average and not much better, or worse that Chang over the next few weeks, the QB position will be addressed in the draft, either with a move up to get a player like Cutler, or selecting a QB in the second or third round, like a Croyle or a Whitehurst. We just connot wait forever, and if Henson does not impress soon, he may go the way of Hutchinson sooner rather than later.

I agree on Henson, and I was a big pro-Henson guy...he didnt look as good as I had hoped yesterday, then again it wasnt like either of those teams did anything impressive either...it looked like bad football

I think Henson has a month to show well and if he does, he'll get another year here...if he doesnt I think someone will be drafted on day one, but not in the 1st rd...they will draft someone who can start immediately (or make a major contribution) with that 1st rd pick

Where did anyone say that it was anything more than the first game?

As it was pointed out, it was just the 1st game, although I also still feel that Henson is under the microscope more now than ever before. Even though Jones would be very happy to see Henson show something substantial, I have to think that even Jones has to recognize that Henson clearly needs to show "something" during his stint in NFLE. I'm inclined to agree, if he doesn't show very much between now and the draft, I think we'll pick a QB up during the draft or perhaps a FA later on.

I'm a huge Henson fan.

He looked lousy yesterday.

I think the most important thing is for him to show improvement from game to game.

I expected him to be rusty and he was.

The thing that bums me out is that in his first pre season with the Cowboys he looked better than any time since then. Seems to me he's regressed.

I agree 100% and I think the problem is that BP's headgames, probably due to perceived pressure from JJ, have ruined him. He may not be salvageable at this point - not in Dallas anyways. I actually feel pretty bad for the kid because he didn't bring this on himself.

If he doesn't show signs of turning things around, I would not be opposed to trading or cutting him and signing another developmental QB in the draft. That may be the best plan for all parties at this stage because I do not believe he will reach his potential playing here.

Parcell's is NOT responsible for Henson's problems. Did you hear what Henson said about BP? We took a risk on a definite project with Drew Henson. A good athlete who showed promise at Michigan but chose baseball. I have no idea on whether he will turn out to be an NFL QB or not but it seems very early to make that call given where he started from.

I didn't see yesterday's game but the videos and comments from folks who did indicate he looked rusty. Not a big surprise. From what I can see the conditions were poor. I have been neutral on Henson from the start but felt he was definitely worth the risk. It is my opinion that Henson is going to need the whole NFLE season to begin to find himself. Taking his performance in games 1 or 2 and making a snap judgement will be unfair to him and the organization.

Henson went (and asked to go) to NFLE to play some football. What I think I'll do is see how he does over the season and make a judgement then. The Cowboys will not draft a QB this year IMO. If Henson shows no promise (or improvement) they probably will look next year, but I hope that is unnecessary.

After the limited experience Henson has had so far, I think your 'unsalvageable' label is a rush to judgement.

I don't think it will be this year that we draft a QB but next year and it will be the guy from Notre Dame

We likely won't be the worst team in the league so you can scratch that possiblity off.

Sorry guys, but I hope the guy bombs in Europe so that JJ will give up this delusion that Henson can one day be a good NFL QB, because he cant.

I don't question his "moxie" I question his lack of experience.

I think we will get an experienced veteran QB this offseason. i just hope we don't trade or cut Henson while he is trying to "improve" his game. I don't want to jinx the guy but I don't see him being a Cowboy long. Sorry.

I too think it looks like he's went downhill in the time he's been at Dallas.
Its looking more and more like he'll never be the answer at QB for the Boys.
I wish he was.
