Sorry, I like my sunday ticket. I get to determine which games I want to see not what local has on and if a game turns out to be a dog I switch to the next game and of course it prevents me from missing any Cowboys game

Honestly, not everyone is in the financial position to pay more than $200 extra to get Sunday ticket. I know those of you who are don't think it's much money, but DirectTV + Sunday ticket is quite a bit more money than basic cable!

If you think it's too expensive, several of my diehard Cowboy friends and I all pitch in together to pay for the Ticket each year. It's worked for a number of years now.:)

So, is there an implication in this statement that those of us who purchase Sunday Ticket are keeping Cowboys games from reaching the "poor huddled masses?'' If so, you are wrong and engaging in muddled thinking.

I live in Florida. I am roughly equidistant from three different teams, only one of which is even in the NFC. My chances of getting Cowboy games is frequently nil without Sunday Ticket. We are fortunate that the Cowboys are often featured in national games because people watch to either root for them or root against them. However, without a package or PPV approach, many times I simply would be out of luck.

I understand that some folks find it difficult to come up with the financial wherewithal to pay for the privelege but I am willing to sacrifice other things to get my Cowboys. The NFL is a business. Your viewing the games comes from one of two sources. Either the advertisers are paying for you to see the game or you are paying to see the game. No arrangement is going to be made where this is not true.

Depends on how many months you want them to spread it over. I'd say the norm is about 110-115 a month, if you just have the base package.

But if you call them up, say I REALLLY want the ticket, but I don't want such a hefty bill, they'll spread it out longer - no doubt. They get your money either way.

I can't get DirecTV because we have a canopy of trees over my house and cutting them down isn't an option! Cable doesn't offer Sunday Ticket and until the NFL Network plays all of the Cowboys games that arn't shown locally here in New York I will just have to suffer. Though they tend to show about eight a year. If they took the stupid Jets off the air I'm sure we would get several more. :)

I think the guy earlier is referring to the NFL Network re-broadcasting full regular season games this year. I hate to tell him but i think it is only like 4 a week, so that would leave about 6 games a week he still would not have access to, even after a doubler header on CBS or FOX and one game on the other each Sunday, Sunday Night on NBC, and Monday Night on ESPN. Take all of those games out of the eqaution (10 teams out of 32), and then factor in the possibility that the NFL Network will show 4 DIFFERENT games each week other than what you do see on Sunday and Monday, and you would still be shy 5-7 games a week depending on BYE weeks and all, before those "8 Prime Time games start on Thanksgiving". Too much of a gamble. Give me my Sunday Ticket, until something better does come along.

Dircet TV and the NFL DO block out games. I was being blocked out of a few games last year and the year before. It seems if you live within a hundred miles of a game you could be in trouble. You have to either miss the game or listen on the radio. Direct Tv does not guarantee all the games! They claim it is the NFL that decides who gets blocked! Very frustrating and infuriating!

I questioned myself this year if I should get the Ticket or not.

Living in LA we get whatever the popular game is. Now, with TO on the football team .. I felt that I'd be able to see probably most of them on National TV.

But, Incase they choose not to air all the Cowboys game. I still went ahead and ordered the Ticket, again.

And no more running to the sports bar and getting lousy seats to watch the Cowboys.

NFL Ticket, the only reason I have DirecTV. :D

Dish

I've had both and I would NEVER order Direct EVER again.

Dish - Not a single problem, customer service is great and the service people spent time explaining how to use all the new equipment and how to fix simple issues so we wouldn't have to sit on hold waiting for support on the phone. Plus they programed the remote for my DVD, Home Theater, VCR, TV. They called the following day to see how we were liking it.

Direct - NEVER worked. The equipment was defective and I wasn't able to view a single Sunday ticket game the entire season. They fought me the entire season about the cause of my not being able to use the service. I had to get cable so I could watch TV while they took thier sweet time fixing it. They finally figured it out months later just after Superbowl Sunday. The LMB on the dish was defective. They replaced it and the service worked. They refused to refund my money for the football package even though it was their defective equipment. They said the NFL had a zero refund policy and if the NFL wouldn't pay back the money, "they (direct) weren't going to take it in the shorts, so you are S.O.L". That was a direct quote from the supervisor. I canceled my service and they tried to remove $500 from my credit card, that I used to sign up for service, for canceling my contract early. VISA told me they were bad about doing that and refused to process the charge after I told them what happened and showed them the work orders from 5 service calls that were made during football season to try to get the service to work.

This is exactly what I am deciding.
Also do not forget that one Cowboy game this season is on NFL network.
I'm thinking strongly in getting Dish network as they offer local channels where I live and Direct TV does not.
Also I could get the NFL network in my package with Dish and if I was to get the NFL netwok on cable(which I have now) it would be a huge price increase in my cable bill(requires I go to digital cable).
In my mind why would I choose cable...it's more expensive and I get better channels on Dish network.

I believe this year there will be NO Blackouts. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

You canceled Sunday Ticket because NFL Network is showing replays of preseason games?

Sunday Ticket has never shown preseason games anyway.

no, I cancelled Sunday Ticket because NFL Network will be replaying the four best matchups every week on their network during the REGULAR season

along with the better games being moved to Sunday night, and the Thursday/Saturday night games, Sunday Ticket isn't worth it unless you live away from your team

I only had Sunday Ticket because I hated missing the great matchups and NFC East games every week... now NFL Network is basically gonna take care of that for you

What are you talking about? The NFL Network is only going to replay preseason games and play a select few NFL games throughout the year. If you want to see all the Boys games then you best be opening your wallet again for the Sunday Ticket.
a "select few NFL games" = the four best matchups of the week

how many good games are there every week anyways? sorry, but I don't care to watch the Cowboys play the 49ers, or the Giants take on St. Louis

I looked back last season, and outside of Skins games, and the NFC East interdivision matchups, there were maybe 3 or 4 good matchups, maybe, that I'd want to watch on Sunday Ticket

now NFL Network will take care of that for me

NFL game broadcasts from the previous weekend, complete with original television announcers and cameras, will be re-televised on NFL Network, just days after their live airing.

This marks the first-time in the 86-year history of the NFL that games from the NFL regular-season or playoffs are shown outside their live window.

During the 2006 season, NFL Replay will feature four of the most exciting games from the weekend, re-airing exclusively on NFL Network Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Two contests will be shown each Tuesday and Wednesday night with 8 p.m. ET and 10:30 p.m. ET kickoff times.

NFL Replay games will air in a 90-minute fast-paced format, without halftime and other elements not critical to the outcome. NFL Replay will tell the story of the game with additional features.

In order to give the games context, NFL Network will add sideline and on-field sound captured during the game and post-game press conference sound bites.

Other enhancements will include exclusive shots and camera angles from NFL Films, allowing fans an inside look at game action they did not see on Sunday. This will give fans a deeper understanding of the game, the players and the coaches.

For example, if NFL Replay was featuring the Colts-Steelers AFC Divisional Playoff where Jerome Bettis fumbled late in the game, viewers would see related comments from Bettis, Bill Cowher and others immediately after the play, as well as slow-motion footage showing the play as it unfolded.

NFL Network has the ability to select any NFL game for use on NFL Replay.

Each Monday, NFL Network will select which games to air on NFL Replay.

so basically you still get to see all the plays (like Shortcuts you can get with Sunday Ticket) with "Game of the Week" elements added

normal "Game of the Week" / NFL Films only show you the biggest plays, with lots of the show taken up showing you sideline talk, sounds captured, and crazy camera angles

now NFL Network is gonna combine the two, the full game, along with all those extras NFL Films can only bring you

four games a week, I can't remember a week where there was more than four games worth watching on Sunday Ticket (trust me, I'm a junkie, I love watching any team in the league play)... it's just not worth it now with NFL Network's new programming
