Yes, there certainly is more to just throwing the ball...and QB reads play a big roll.

I don't buy what you said about Chow having to make adjustments in the SEC..just because it's the SEC though. Guys like Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Matt Stafford, etc,etc came into the NFL ready to play that style. It would depend on what school Chow went to. If it was to Georgia, Vandy, Ole Miss, and maybe others, the change would not be all that great. The issues of changing offensive styles rest more with personnel than in what conference you play in. Rodriquiz, for example, will need time some change the personnel at Michigan to fit his scheme....as you know. But just because he's in the Big Ten does not prohibit him from doing that over time.
That is a valid point.

Hopefully someone will reach for him above our 1st round pick causing a player to slide we might not have otherwise had a shot at

I think he's either a 2nd round pick or Jacksonville trades down to take him.

That seems to be the logical place (2nd or high 3rd), but it seems like every year some team makes a reach or crazy pick so I don't think it would be a shock to see him go in the first (BTW, I'm not saying he should be a first, I'm saying I think one or more teams will be tempted to reach).

I have a feeling all the Tebow hype is going to cause one or two teams to lose their composure and use a first to grab him. If two teams are thinking about him in the first (and each team is aware of the other), it could be just enough competition to cause them to be impatient and reach with a 1st round pick.

That would be good for Dallas, no?

The draft reminds me of auctions I've been to where people get completely irrational and over pay for stuff out of fear of loss or the desire to win.

Sadly, college coaches do not do that, especially with QBs. Their job is to teach the kids the Offense that they run, not prepare them to make it in the NFL.

Norm Chow once told me that his entire focus in an Offense is to build NFL caliber QBs so that recruiting is easier. I'd say he did one hell of a job at it.

Norm Chow would do wonders for McGhee. Norm has had great success w/QBs wherever he has gone.

He is a QB encyclopedia.

I'm not advocating that every college team teach a pro offense only, I'm merely addressing the video reports I've seen where they said Tebow has struggled with taking the ball under snap, drops the ball too low when making a throw and how he struggles with his footwork when dropping back to pass.

Am I crazy to think these are pretty basic skills that require a little coaching and repetition that would benefit any offense?

To hear he is struggling with what appear to be the basic mechanics of the QB position that I would think would apply to virtually any offense (even if for only a few plays) is what I am thinking could have been coached better. But like C-Lab said, maybe he's just not any good at this (which I find a little odd given all the accolades he gets for being a great athlete).

Maybe the coaches at Florida don't know how to improve these basic skills in Tebow. They may be good coaches for certain aspects of a college QB, but not good in every single area. Just because you are a coach doesn't mean you know everything.

I thought Tebows throwing motion improved from his first year to his last year at UF. It looked as if it improved and still has more room for improvement.

I don't think Tebow has first round talent. In fact I wouldn't spend any draft pick on him. I could be wrong though.

I don't either (but then I'm no talent evaluator), I just think some team will get caught up in the hype and potential and throw a #1 at him because they'll be too impatient to risk letting him fall into the 2nd or lower

I wouldn't worry about Jax taking him. That new GM (in 2009) Gene Smith is way too smart for that. I loved their draft last year...talk about focused on taking the BPA and overlapping it with need. However, it is about time for them start developing another QB for 3-4 years down the road, but I'd be beyond shocked if they blew a #1 on Tebow. Who knows, if falls to the 3rd they may go there...but even then, I don't know how wise that's be.

LOL on the Tebow NFL QB junk.

He isnt going to be a good QB. He isnt going to be a regular starter either. He's basically embarrassing himself in Mobile by the accounts of many.

He doesnt have the arm strength or the accuracy to play the position.

I think the arm strength is fine, but the low delivery, slow delivery, and accuracy (which is related to his poor form) are mega issues.
