Good riddance. Tired hearing about how good he was, especially against Pittyburger.

Watch Bill start Gilbert against us and outcoach us with those sidearm throws.

I don't know how much this actually says, but I consider Grier a major upgrade in talent over Gilbert, Nooch or Rush.

He was thrown in before ready to play, and there's still a potential unknown upside.

Hopefully we next see the dude in August....but at least if Dak goes down we aren't subject to some 30 year old journeyman at QB.

Carolina cut bait a little soon.

Gilbert on his 9th team in 8 years. LOL....gotta give it to him. He's a survivor. Being a career backup QB in the NFL is not a bad gig. No one expects much so its hard to disappoint. Just move on to the next.
He's gonna be able to sell a Gilbert calendar with each month a picture of him in a different uniform.

Could we have? There has to be some point a player is no longer practice squad eligible.[/QUOTE

Normally he'd not be eligible, but there are special Covid rules this year, so as I understand it he is p.s. eligible...

No, we'll be subject to a 26 year old backup who's thrown 52 passes in the NFL.

Not much of a difference, based on experience. Is he, as someone here said, a "major" upgrade? Maybe but it's far too early to tell...

Landry

I won't bad mouth Landry because he's a legend, but we all know how his last few seasons played out.

Parcells
3–12–1

in 99 after going 12-4 the previous year and having sb expectations losing vinny testaverde pushed them to 8-8 (hardly losing tom brady)

in 2005 after making the playoffs and finishing 10-6 the year prior, they lose Quincy Carter (lol) and finish 6-10
his Giants also went 6-10 in 87 the year after winning the superbowl

Madden
he's a great choice and hard to poke holes in. too short of a tenure though. But his 10 year run is incredible.

Shula
Also a great choice and probably who'd be my choice if not BB. Never winning a SB w/ Marino is a stain though imo

Chuck Noll
Sir this is a cowboys forum lol

Jimmy
My personal favorite coach ever, but Switzer won after him, and he didn't do anything of note when he left.

Great move by Jerry releasing Gilbert. He knew Bill would pick him up to pick his brain. And Jerry had MM input all kinds of wrong info in there. :muttley:

Jerry is a genius.

We beat NE easily.

Look at what each player was thought of as during HS into college and before the each of their drafts and it's clear that Grier is the most talented of the three.

There's at least a bit more of an unknown potential upside with him.

We already know what Rush and Gilbert can and cannot accomplish.

WE were stupid for holding him so long, but Bellycheat the GENIUS picks him up, after he lets Scam Newton go, who we’d be stupid to grab as a #2. Meanwhile, we’re stupid for claiming Will Grier, stupid for keeping Rush, and stupid for paying Dak. Plus, had we NOT picked up Grier, we’d be stupid. It gets confusing, but the common thread? We’re stupid!✊
Thankfully, we now know the Cowboys identity! :muttley:

Ultimately he ended up on a PS.

Seems like being from Texas he’d of preferred to stay here if PS was his destiny. But maybe he’s excited about going to Pats PS?
Gotta be somewhat intriguing for him if nothing else.
