Execs, coaches, scouts rank top NFL quarterbacks for 2026

That whole 2-5 thing placed on one player is so comical. People really expose themselves as being horribly uninformed as to how the game of football is played.

According to their logic, Trent Dilfer and Kaepernick are better quarterbacks in the post season than the top quarterback on this list, Josh Allen.

So ok... Dak is 2-5. But make sure we make it known that Trent Dilfer, Rex Grossman and Colin Kaepernick are better quarterbacks when it matters the most than Josh Allen until further notice.

Again... I don't create the narratives, I just want to respectfully abide by them.
I'm sorry, what's Josh's playoff record? And how good were the Bills before he got there?

These Dak threads never disappoint. I was ready to move on, get a fresh start for both us and Dak. But I can’t be vehemently upset that we have the 6th or 7th best QB in the league, and I don’t understand how others can be.

Some of us have no issue with differing opinions. It doesn't sound like you are one of them complaining genetically about people who don't agree with you.
I don't have an issue with differing opinions.

I have issue with opinions that are not based on facts

The guy has battled depression, lost his mother to cancer and his brother before 30….this whole mental toughness thing is a farce. No one questions other guys who have been failing….he just hasn’t been good enough.
Aw shucks, what a tough life! He's been playing that card for years and frankly, I don't care.

Big Ben lost his mom to a car accident at 8 years old and won two SBs. What's your point? Crap happens in life, and I've had a bunch of stuff happen in my life, but I'm not about to make excuses if I'm not performing up to my professional standards at work.

I’m not in the business of battling over who’s had the tougher life. We all have our challenges. You completely misunderstood my post or are backtracking. You said his mental makeup is why he folds. I brought up those instances to show why I disagree with that notion.

Sometimes in sports you just aren’t good enough that day. You may never be good enough. ‘Mental make up is an excuse. No one said anything about Nick Foles or Sam Darnolds mental makeup. It’s just another long list of excuses because it’s easier to think that’s why as opposed to the real reason why…..30 seasons why.

I think the case could be made that many here are as much experts on Prescott than the "experts" in this poll. Most of us have followed Prescott since day one and have seen every snap he's taken at least once if not multiple times.

The "experts" in this poll very likely have nowhere near that level of experience with Dak specifically as they have to be focusing on their own circus.

Like you're alluding too, though, people will trust any expert that validates what they want to believe.
They choose them the way most of us choose probowlers for teams other than our own, by looking at gross stats.

What does his mental toughness have to do with him losing them? I feel bad for his losses but I don't see how that's a virtue for him.

Same result then and now but he did have his legs back then. He was never a big play runner in college. He got the tough yards between the tackles. He was strong as an ox. He should be a lot smarter now but he has a lot of the same mental breakdowns now as he had in year 2. You can’t fix……
My point was I hope he's better and I'm not sure he has a point.

Comparing Dak to Sam Darnold and Nick Foles is actually making my argument for me. Those guys aren’t eating up $60 million of the salary cap. When you’re the highest-paid player on the team, “he just wasn’t good enough that day” isn’t a defense; it’s an indictment.

^ Equally true of virtually all NFL position articles. And other sports stories as well.
It's hard to get sources on the record if you never leave the studio. They sent out hundreds of emails and 70 responded. Then wrote an article.

well forgot one of Bradys rings but my point stands
Those that think its all about the QB are morons

IF Brady was so clearly the GOAT, he would have had more rings

Joe Montana went to four in 16 years and won all of them
are you saying Brady was twice as good?
Winning multiple SBs is much harder since free agency. You win a SB and the vultures swoop in.

Hopefully, more members will offer their thoughts on the question. I watched many games involving both players. It will not be the first time I have said I would choose Joe Montana over Tom Brady without batting an eyelash.
Montana also played in an offense that most of the league had no idea how to defend.

Dak is somewhere in the 5-10 zone for sure. The league's top 4 or 5 quarterbacks can beat a defense even on a perfect play, they are effectively unguardable. You can smother Josh Allen's receivers, beat his left tackle, and he'll still rush for a first down. If you cover Patrick Mahomes's receivers and pressure him, he'll roll out and hit a no looker to a late-breaking receiver with a throw that looks impossible.

Dak can execute at a very high level, but he can't beat a great defensive play. If you cover CeeDee, cover Pickens, and bring pressure, he's not going to punish you. He's either going to hit Fergy for a 5 yard catch-and-fall, or throw the ball away. That keeps him out of the MVP tier of quarterbacks.

What makes Dak so highly ranked is just how cleanly he executes the routine plays. He is a pocket quarterback par excellence. In particular, I love how well he balances risk and reward... he knows when to take the big shots and when to play it safe, and at this point he almost never puts the ball in harm's way. If Josh Allen had Dak's judgement, he probably would've won two Super Bowls by now.

I’ve always thought he’s been top 10. Whh he ere exactly in the top 10 varies by person but anyone who doesn’t think he’s top 10 to me is a bit biased. Just no way to say he’s not
Top 10 doesn't really mean much if he is or not. Purdy has been to multiple nfccg. Hurts 2 SB and won one. They aren't even mentioned.

That would help. No way anyone wins with last year's defense. It hasn't always been like that though.
...last year defense, so bad, it was historical.

Still managed to win 7 games. So I'm getting good feeling for 26'.
