Execution eats playcalling for lunch

No innovative doesn’t always win. Execution always wins.
 
But combine the two....then you got something

Keep reading garret doesn't game plan for opposing teams. Hard to beleive they don't try to get at a weakness via a mismatch for a splash play....could be the diff in a playoff spot or divisional crown

Of course execution is important. But playcalling has an effect on execution. That’s the point of complaining about playcalling.

Some plays are easier to execute. Some players are better than others at executing. Each defense is differently and the individual matchups vary from team to team.

For example, Zeke Elliott executes at an MVP level. Rico Gathers hasn’t executed anything in the NFL yet.

In a key situation, when we need a TD to keep the lead safe, the coaches called a play, relying on Rico freaking Gathers to execute, rather than the best RB in the league.

That’s why playcalling matters. Playcalling has a direct impact on execution. I don’t understand why some people believe they are two separate things. Execution and playcalling are directly related to one another.

The only time execution always wins is when you have better talent than the other team, ala 90's Cowboys. You can execute to perfection but when it meets better players and especially better players that know what you're running, all the execution in the world won't matter.

Like someone has to study film to know we haven't run the ball nearly enough until today. Give me a break. Most people can process that on the fly. Leading league in rushing, third in the league inn YPC but late 20s in carries. If you need film study to show you that's a farce, I'm an African Prince looking to import $10 million dollars and I'll pay you 10% of that if you'll loan me $5k...

I have no doubt what is say is true. What I do doubt is that fans have any idea about any of that during to the game, and probably not after the game either.

As far as Zeke and gathers, I’m on record as saying that I would not have run the ball three times. And as I said before, dak executes a relatively easy play on second down, no one is talking about this series.

And at least the folks asking for gathere at the goal line can not shut up :). Dude doesn’t look like a football player.

Oh you’re right about us fans. I mean I couldn’t call plays in an NFL game. No doubt.

I do think it’s fair game for us to want coaches who do it well though. And the only way for us to know if it was done well or not, is to base that on the outcomes and winning.

People don’t complain about playcalling nearly as much when the team wins.

Playcalling and execution are MEANINGLESS if they're limited to the Lions game. Teams don't play the game to win against one team. They play so they can beat most of the teams with the goal of beating the best team.
It's like bragging about a road you've paved yet the road dead ends into a cement wall. What good is a dead end road? The purpose of paving roads is to get from one destination to another.
