This is no surprise as that’s what the team has been saying if we’ve been listening.

I know that we never saw the starters play in preseason but behind 2nd and 3rd stringer offensive lines and with 3rd and 4th string running backs they averaged 4.1 YPC. They ran more in preseason than they passed.

Tyler Smith was much better in run blocking than in pass blocking which makes sense because it’s just easier, mentally, run blocking vs pass blocking.

Jake Ferguson loves to run block so he should help the running game. Shultz can hold his own. Not great but not awful.

By leaning on the run early in the season it will give the youngsters on the offensive line and wide receivers to gain some confidence by getting acclimated to the NFL. And also give Gallup and Peters to get ready for the season. Who knows, Peters may never need to play LT but maybe somewhere else on the line. But by relying on the run game early on it gives the coaches a chance to figure it all out.

I hope so…

KMoore gets pass happy though.

he loves that college offense.

if anything, we will see that A gap blast play from the pistol formation.

Exactly why Zeke will easily gain more than 56 yards IMO. A couple of other nuggets..
  • Starting to think we could be seeing a permanent shift in offensive identity/scheme, going back to a run-first team.
  • Quickly, what do the Rams and 49ers playoff losses have in common? In both games, we were supposed to win but were beaten by a strong running scheme. Both teams ran it down our throw.
  • 2014 and 2016 are arguably our best seasons in the last ten years. Each year we had the league-leading rusher.

While the intention might be a run-focused game, the real issue will be KM's persistence to stick with it. I would not be at all surprised if Dak had 40+ passing attempts

Could be 50+ if it turns into garbage time….But I don’t see that happening with our improving defense to keep us in games

This is now at least three excellent posts in a row that I’ve agreed with.

No calling people out, no labeling, just well thought out and supported football talk.

In all seriousness though, great stuff lately. I’m digging it.

I like this in theory. But typically this is a bad team to try and run against. A couple of 3 and outs and hopefully the D can hold Tampas offense.

I just hope Moore has some creativity if this is the plan. I pray he doesn’t go Zeke to the B gap left on first, Zeke to the B gap on second followed by curl routes on 3rd and 6 short of the sticks!

All fine and dandy if they keep the game close.

We have a quarterback that needs a hundred yards on the ground to win. They need to run Zeke like they ran Emmitt. Because, it was also said, Emmitt needed 20 carries for the Cowboys to win. So we won three Super Bowls with a bus driver at quarterback. We ran the ball often and played good defense back then. This defense is better than our 2016 defense, so if we can get back to running the ball... that would be great.

Just trying to paint a picture for you guys.

Sargeant Rock is more relaxed since his occupation of Honolulu. I hear he rules with an iron but just hand.

If run heavy offense won't mean "Zeke into the wall for 3 yards" again and again I'm all in.

Our problem last year was more like Zeke into the wall 1 yd, 2yds, etc. I'd be somewhat satisfied to see a 3rd and 4 after 2 runs. We sure had trouble accomplishing that last season and ended up behind the chains and abandoning the run.
