Expect a run heavy offense on Sunday night

If run heavy offense won't mean "Zeke into the wall for 3 yards" again and again I'm all in.
This is the key. We need manageable 3rd downs. 3rd and 2s/3s. It seemed last season we would get in way too many 3rd and longs

This is no surprise as that’s what the team has been saying if we’ve been listening.

I know that we never saw the starters play in preseason but behind 2nd and 3rd stringer offensive lines and with 3rd and 4th string running backs they averaged 4.1 YPC. They ran more in preseason than they passed.

Tyler Smith was much better in run blocking than in pass blocking which makes sense because it’s just easier, mentally, run blocking vs pass blocking.

Jake Ferguson loves to run block so he should help the running game. Shultz can hold his own. Not great but not awful.

By leaning on the run early in the season it will give the youngsters on the offensive line and wide receivers to gain some confidence by getting acclimated to the NFL. And also give Gallup and Peters to get ready for the season. Who knows, Peters may never need to play LT but maybe somewhere else on the line. But by relying on the run game early on it gives the coaches a chance to figure it all out.
I've been wanting this for years. It'll make Dak that much more effective.

One thing that can't happen with this strategy...can't fall too far behind early. That's where the defense comes in. It all needs to work together.

That's not just tomorrow, every week.

then expect a loss. Zeke getting shut down early…..double digit lead……cowboys have to get pass happy to catch up and Dak gets teed off on.

that’s the new Moore game plan. Same as Garrett.

Exactly why Zeke will easily gain more than 56 yards IMO. A couple of other nuggets..
  • Starting to think we could be seeing a permanent shift in offensive identity/scheme, going back to a run-first team.
  • Quickly, what do the Rams and 49ers playoff losses have in common? In both games, we were supposed to win but were beaten by a strong running scheme. Both teams ran it down our throw.
  • 2014 and 2016 are arguably our best seasons in the last ten years. Each year we had the league-leading rusher.

this would be great save for our oline.

Tough defense and a strong run game is the formula. We haven't managed to put both on the field in one season. If we could, it's lethal.

I think we will see the opposite. Unless the Cowboys feel their defense can hold the Bucs to a low score, I think the Cowboys will do what they did last year and throw the ball 40+ times.

Maybe they open with a run play or even a couple of running plays the first series, but with Hicks and Vea in the middle of the Bucs defense and McGovern and Biadasz in the middle of the Cowboys OL, they will realize running the ball is futile.

But a lot could depend on what the Bucs do on their first series. If the defense struggles, the running playbook will hit the trash bin early.

They should do this a lot when Zeke and Pollard are healthy but Moore gets bored or Dak audibles out. Use these dudes already

I'll expect a lot of blitzes, delays, combinations attacking the Dallas front this game. They will have to defeat those for two or three successful plays to really become successful.

I liked our run game a lot more when they used the delayed draw.

Yeah they are not paying Dak 40 million a year for him to hand the ball off. Quick passes and off tackle runs is what I expect against the Bucs.
I agree. Almost a west coast approach. Dump offs to Pollard/Zeke, tosses to the RBs towards Martin/Steele, move the chains with the TE, crossing routes with CeeDee and look for YAC.

Defense: Micah, Micah, Micah, Micah… can’t wait to see this guy. I’m praying this is our LT!!!
