With a rookie or a 40 year old at LT
I don't think we'll get pass happy

Our problem last year was more like Zeke into the wall 1 yd, 2yds, etc. I'd be somewhat satisfied to see a 3rd and 4 after 2 runs. We sure had trouble accomplishing that last season and ended up behind the chains and abandoning the run.
Zeke or Pollard
Won't make a difference if the offensive lineman

Clarence Hill:

Elliott is under contract in 2023 for a non-guaranteed salary of $10.9 million but he has a cap charge of $16.72 million.

If the Cowboys release Elliott after the season, it would cost them $11.86 million against the cap but they could save $4.86 million.

Of course, if you let Elliott tell it, it’s a made up narrative that has not been discussed or considered by the Cowboys.

“That’s all speculation on the outside,” Elliott said. “Everything internally, everyone is on the same page. That is someone trying to create a narrative.”

Jones offered a similar take: “I don’t know where they get this; could be his last year in spite of his contract. Zeke is a Cowboy. I’m betting on Zeke.”

We may not have the league-leading rusher but could still shoot to be a top 3 rushing team with Zeke AND Pollard.

Peters would have to be playing LT and being doing a great job with Tyler at guard. I dont see us being able to run the ball well with Mcgovern at guard and Tyler out at LT. Line simply isnt good enough.

We’re still going have to throw the ball a lot to win. With the OL issues I’m not sold that we’re going to have a lot of running lanes.

They save 10.9M.

The other charges are money already spent. The release accelerates some of those charges into the current year but it still comes out to 10.9M saved.

..and vs the top run defense in NFL in the Bucs defense ..that run heavy wish will be blown out like a candle light.

i'd like us to make an " attempt " to run the ball to a certain degree, especially mis-direction or edge runs, but good luck vs Vita & co.

The Cooper Zone of cash flow management. Production declining and no trophies to show.

If that is the case TP should be getting more, because he eventually breaks through for a big one.

I think our running game will be better this year though. Tyler and Peters might be nice if they line up together.

This is no surprise as that’s what the team has been saying if we’ve been listening.

I know that we never saw the starters play in preseason but behind 2nd and 3rd stringer offensive lines and with 3rd and 4th string running backs they averaged 4.1 YPC. They ran more in preseason than they passed.

Tyler Smith was much better in run blocking than in pass blocking which makes sense because it’s just easier, mentally, run blocking vs pass blocking.

Jake Ferguson loves to run block so he should help the running game. Shultz can hold his own. Not great but not awful.

By leaning on the run early in the season it will give the youngsters on the offensive line and wide receivers to gain some confidence by getting acclimated to the NFL. And also give Gallup and Peters to get ready for the season. Who knows, Peters may never need to play LT but maybe somewhere else on the line. But by relying on the run game early on it gives the coaches a chance to figure it all out.
This may be true in other games, but it would be a foolish plan tomorrow.

So let me give you a scenario:

Cowboys do as you say and try to establish the run. By the middle of the 2nd quarter its largely been shut down and the score is 13 to 3 bucs. Are you still going to keep featuring the run game?

I ain;t kidding ya. Dak trips over Biadasz' foot before the handoff.

If you think there weren't problems with our O-line since fredbeard left and Smith always hurt...yer nuts.

Pollard does look better because he runs different plays. But you can;t run those ALL the time.

At the beginning of the year Zeke looked pretty good and got hurt. I wish they would have sat him but they asked him to play. Half the fans ridicule him for his reduced results. Let's hope for good health for everyone, namely zeke and tony. And hope for an o-line that can block without penalties.

Pollard is UFA.

he will get paid $$$ somewhere else.
Or....Jerry will give him big money...and the fans will have another goat.

I think I'd like to see both Zeke and Tony go to other teams that have a real OC and a commitment to use their skills.
