Expect a Trade Down In The First

I think Dallas may have an issue considering that they are one of many teams that are floating out the trade down scenario. The Cardinals might actually end up foiling them by offering their pick in trade-backs to reclaim that 2nd they lost in the Kolb trade.
No doubt.
Here's a huge difference between looking into trade scenarios and actually getting the trade you want. There are 31 other teams out there

You don't get it ... with DeCastro manning the Eagles offensive line, there's a pretty good chance Marcus Spears and/or Kenyon Coleman will get very little pressure on the QB when we play the Eagles. Are you prepared to live with that?

Spears or Coleman doesn't get pressure now on any QB

I know that's hard to fathom, but try to wrap your head around this kind of doomsday scenerio.

Well done, IR, well done

that is gonna leave a mark or at least it should

Facing a guard twice a year does not scare me in the slightest. That's the most ridiculous justification for drafting Decastro I've heard yet.

'Oh crap! We're facing the Eagles! We better gameplan around their two 1st round guards or else the game is lost!'

This Decastro-love is getting overboard. I understand everyone has their horse that they pick, but give me a break, we're going to be scared of facing a guard twice a year? I'm scared of facing Babin, JPP twice a year.

I am big DeCastro fan but facing him twice a year doesnt bother. RG3 OTOH might be a different story.

The Cowboys are fielding talks for that pick. We are probably targeting Konz right now

It has crossed my mind and remains a possibility as reflected in the mock in my sig, I just cant shake the feeling Kirkpatrick or Upshaw is the real target. I would prefer Konz in a trade down and follow your blueprint as well.

Jets love Upshaw so if he is out #1 target, we may lose him if we get cute.

I would put my money on Upshaw or Dre as well. Both could be seen as replacements for Spencer or Jenkins.

This is me guessing.

If we are a zone football team targeting a center in the first round given what we have at dline, we are completely clueless. That would be an F. Meyers costs $4million. I would draft DeCastro 100x before I picked Konz.

meh, seems like last year when we played them

If only it would fall like McShay's Mock today. he had Konz falling all the way past our 2nd round pick.

GOOD!!! This team has far too many holes and not enough picks. Love this plan

If the right guy isn't there I actually agree with this.

Trading down seems like a good idea.

Hightower / Upshaw seem like the logical picks.

There were reports Rob loved that DT that the JEts drafted in round 1 last year too. The guy was from Temple I believe? Wilkerson maybe?

Anyways wouldn't surprise me if the Cowboys and Jets both had similar targets again.

I can't wait to see the clamoring both positively and negatively if the Cowboys draft DeCastro AND Konz next month. It is going to be a frikkin' mad house around here.

As much as Jerry likes to throw up smoke screen, DeCastro and Konz really is plausible.

I just don't see Konz falling past the Ravens. Dallas best shot at trading down and still getting Konz is working a trade with the Pats. NE has needed a good edge rusher for several years now. Good scenario for both teams to get what they are looking for.

Dallas #14 and #81 (3rd rounder) for Pats #27 and #31.

Pats could have their crack at a top DE prospect while Dallas could move back and grab:

Konz, C at #27
Barron, S at #31
Ronnell Lewis, DE/OLB at #45

If we got both of them I would have an accident.

Agree, dont think Konz will be there. I'm a fan at staying at #14.

I appreciate that we have/had an "in" with Alabama, OU, Wisconsin and USC, and I can even appreciate that it served us well last year, but can we please not start a trend of needlessly restricting the talent pool of high draft picks to just players who played for those schools? It's okay to just decide someone like Fletcher Cox fills a huge need and is entirely worthy of the 14th pick and draft him there for those reasons, without throwing in the extra condition that Jason Garrett (or someone on the staff) had to have coached with Mississippi State's head coach at some point in time.

I think the "ins" are more useful for guys in the mid and late rounds. There is a situation where the extra information on DeMarco Murray was helpful to draft or not draft. I think that is more useful to get in depth information on character and injuries. Up top, I think most of those guys get so much time and scrutiny that it is not as helpful.

Of course you could just be the Bengals, don't hire any scouts and hope that Marvin Lewis can handle the character risks that they take in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

The Ravens just lost their guard, defensive end and solb in free agency (they have a good 2 year de). They resigned their center for about $500 and a law and economics textbook. I bet they take the best defensive player that falls to them as usual and will pick a guard in the top 3 rounds in what is a deep draft for guards.
