Exactly. It's a catch any way you look at it. I just don't understand the decision at all.

I'm not saying it wasn't. I think it was. The ref booth said that it wasn't enough to constitute a football move, and I disagree. Especially since it was called a catch -- they especially said that it was INDISPUTABLE that Dez did NOT make a football move, which is nonsense.

I'm just saying arguments related to "steps" and "control" don't matter in this context.

When no one can even explain why it's not a football move, it makes me think it can't be an irrefutable conclusion.

I figured it touched the ground when it rubbed up against the ground.

the best angle from 5 feet away behind the ref shows Dez's hand very close to under the ball

there is so much gray area it's unbelievable

btw every station is basically glossing over this, there is almost no outrage like what happened last week

The refs stole this game from Dallas. They should be ashamed of themselves for such bad officiating.

The ball popped out when it touched the ground, moved all the way up to his shoulder pad, then Dez let go and managed to catch it again laying on his back.

He simply didn't maintain control of the ball.

No because after he landed and took a step he did complete the catch. He caught the ball and landed one, two...took a step which equals a football move, lunged which equaled a second football move, landed on his right elbow which equaled a 4th foot down, hit the ground where the ball popped loose but did not hit the ground from any angle I saw.

It's pretty technical. There is a difference between control and possession if you are going to the ground -- if going to the ground, the steps don't matter; rather, you have to complete the catch through your fall, or make a "football move." Of course, the counterargument is that Dez's stretch is a "football move."

His stretch toward the goal line was a TOTAL football move. What the hell else would you call it? The rule flat out sucks anyways.

I agree with this. You see the ball pop up at the end, and guess what? He caught it. No clear view of it hitting the ground. You can assume it did (and I do) but you can't see it. It was a joke of a call from every vantage point possible.
