Explain to me why we would want the Eagles to win?

What I'd like to see are the percentages of each scenario actually playing out. Meaning, what are our chances to get in if Philly wins and what our chances would be if the Giants won.

Sometimes I sit and look at all these scenarios, and really try hard to decide who I want to pull for and everything, and then I remember there is one solution: JUST WIN.

Who I cheer for has no effect on who will win the game (despite the fact that I'd like to think it does). Let's hope we don't have to worry about any of these scenarios. Let's hope we just go 4-0!

Honestly though, I haven't decided who I want to win the Eagles-Giants game. All I know is that after that game, I'll be rooting for both those teams to lose every week.... along with the Packers.

A Dallas win and a Giants loss this week means...

Either we'd have to lose all 3 remaining games

OR

the Giants would have to win all 3

for us NOT to make it in.

NYG have 3 tuff games,Eagles have 3,and we have 3.Eagles are 8-4.Giants are 7-5.We must root for NYG? Makes sense.

I never want Philly to win any game, but having NYG lose is probably better for us. We wont win any head to head tie breaker with NYG, which means the possibility is there we could both finish 10-6 and we'd miss the playoffs.

We have a game left with Philly, at home. We have the ability to take care of them, we have no ability to take care of NYG now.

I have no interest in making the playoffs as a wildcard, do not get me wrong, if it comes down to it, I will accept it. However, I really want a home game to start our run. I am trying to figure out if there is a realistic shot at winning the east by going 2-2 down the stretch, it does not seem realistic.

The most realistic scenario I came up with was the following: again this is assuming we go 10-6 and are trying to win the division

Dallas
SD W
NO L
Was L
Philly W

Philly
NYG L
SF W
Den W
Dal L

NYG
Philly W
Was L
Car W
Min L

you can flip flop wins and losses between SD and Wash, it does not change anything. If it makes you feel better

If we beat Philly and Wash, and the Giants lose two of their last three?

If Dallas wins, we can benefit from either team losing. It is far more important for Dallas to win than to worry about either the Giants or the Eagles.

If the Eagles win, Dallas still holds the tie breaker over them and it virtually buries the Giants from winning the NFC East.

If the Giants win it would give us a 1 game lead over each of them.

But no option is any good unless we win. I don't really care about the Giants and Eagles this week. I will take whatever happens, come what may. Just give me a Cowboys win.

That works

The biggest obstacle I have discovered is that if the Giants lose on Sunday, the Eagles will have to lose to either SF or DEN (both at home), prior to losing to us, for us to have any chance at winning the division. Again, this is all assuming we go 2-2 down the stretch. Finishing 3-1 down the stretch with a victory over Philly locks everything up..

Actually most of the arguments justifying why the Dallas Cowboys should want the Eagles to win make perfect sense to me. And for those of you who absolutely hate the Eagles I'll say that it's not so much that you want the Eagles to win as it is that you want the Giants to lose.

All that put aside, wouldn't it make better sense to want the Eagles to win because down the road you think you have a better chance at beating the Eagles than beating the Giants. For those that need me to say that another way ...It makes sense to want the Eagles to win because you know you can beat us down the road.

What's your thoughts on that viewpoint?

I am man enough to admit I would prefer the Eagles go 0-4 and the Giants 1-3 with the only win being this week.

I actually would prefer to face the Giants in the playoffs than the Eagles. I would like to pay them back for 2007 where we swept them and then lost in the playoffs. Complete reversal of circumstances would be wonderful.

If The Giants Win And We Lose 1 Game It Will Put Us Back In A Tie With Ny And They Hold Both Tie Breakers Over Us. Go Philly!!!!!!!!!

A big part of me wants another game with the Giants as well

If the Giants lose this week, I don't see them finishing better than 8-8. To me, if we win and the Giants lose this week, there's a 95% chance we're in.

Don't know why anyone would think NY would go 3-0 down the stretch, especially after losing yet again.

Personally, I'm still hopeful for 12-4, and certainly don't count any game as a gimme loss.

This is exactly why you should be rooting for Philly to lose...to strengthen the likelihood that we win the division..

I don't think NY winning and gaining confidence is the best way to win the division. If NY loses, I think they'll end up at 8-8. If they win, however, the worse I think they finish is 10-6, and they MAY run the table to 11-5. Which would mean we'd have to go 3-1 or possibly 4-0 to win the division. While 4-0 is what I want, and certainly feel is possible, I don't like having to rely on that.
