Explain to me why we would want the Eagles to win?

I don't think NY winning and gaining confidence is the best way to win the division. If NY loses, I think they'll end up at 8-8. If they win, however, the worse I think they finish is 10-6, and they MAY run the table to 11-5. Which would mean we'd have to go 3-1 or possibly 4-0 to win the division. While 4-0 is what I want, and certainly feel is possible, I don't like having to rely on that.

I disagree here, I believe win or lose vs Philly, the Giants will finish at 9-7

Wow, great thread but I still don't know who to root for. Guess I'll just root for us to beat the Chargers and just see how the Eagles/Giants game turns out and go with it.

After our game, we should have a better idea of which team we want to win, but I don't think everyone will agree even then.

Either way, it's going to help us in some way. It's just a matter of what has to happen after that -- either with us or with other teams.

If we win, we want the Giants to lose, correct?

I started the thread and still have no clue.lol.I am assuming its best to root for Philly.I tend to isagree cause NYG arent that good, philly is however and Westbrook is back.NYG have the tiebreaker against us so,gotta go with Philly.lol.

But what you are forgetting is that we get to play Philly and we already have tiebreak on them. So it doesnt matter if we are trailing Philly by one game going into the closer. If we win, both teams would have the same record but Dallas would have tiebreak.

If we are tied with the Giants, then we have to hope somebody beats the Giants for us to win the division.

It is the difference of controlling your destiny or praying for some other team to help you. I would rather be trailing Philly by a game knowing I can win the division in week 17 then hoping somebody beats the Giants if we are in a 3 way tie.
I guess my thing is this. I don't want to lose 1st place at all especially going into the final game one game behind the Eagles. I guess I am just greedy, I want the Eagles to be chasing us going into that final game. Also looking at the schedules the Giants are going to lose again. They give up a lot of points and don't play well on the road. The Eagles have some "friendly" games after this week and that is two home games against the Niners and Broncos.

First thing first, we have to take care of business against the Chargers. From my scenarios I have ran, I think it is best to summarize as follows.

Easiest way to win the division......Eagles beat the Giants. This basically eliminates the Giants from winning the division and they start fighting it out for the wildcard. Meanwhile, we stay .5 game up on Philly with another game against them in our house.

Easiest way to make playoffs.......Giants win. All we have to do here is just win our 2 home games and we are in. New Orleans and Washington dont matter.

We should just route for a tie. Or maybe not?

Exactly! I don't want the eagles OR the giants to get a win.

I'm pulling for them to have a tie game.

McNabb knows all about those now :)

That's the key and we'll know before they play.

Right now I'm leaning toward a Giant win. I'd like to have at least a wildcard clinched before or last game and have that last game be for the division.

The only realistic way I see that playing out is if the Giants lose to Philly.

I believe our chances of beating the eagles week 17 are greater without the pressure of it being an all or nothing game.

Another reason I want to see the Giants lose.........

I'd hate to see this nightmare scenario unfold:

We win our next 3 to go to 11-4.
Eagles win 2 after losing to the Giants.
Giants win their next three.

If we lose to the eagles and the giants beat Min we're out! Assuming of course the packers finished with 11 wins.

11-5, 3-2 in Dec and still no play-offs! That would kill me!

0 percent chance your nightmare scenario plays out. ZERO

You stating this as a fact or just saying something stupid?

Another stupid thread? I'm going to say this one more time

The cowboys game is at 4pm and the eagles/giants play at 8pm. So since that is the case why start this thread now and the Cowboys haven't beaten the Chargers yet? If the Chargers beat us tomorrow then this question is irrelevant.

Yeah, but do you think we can beat the Saints?

According to playoffstatus.com, if we get 11 wins, there's less than a 1 percent chance that we won't get in. (And like I said earlier, if we can't beat the Eagles at home with the playoffs on the line, we don't deserve to get in anyway.)

If you really think there's a chance that scenario will happen, maybe you should find a way to lay 10 bucks on that 10-game parlay in Las Vegas. You'll be disappointed that we're not in the playoffs, but you'll be consoled by that $6,000 or so in your pocket.

How much can you get on the Boys just missing the playoffs outright?
