An Indianapolis anti-aging clinic supplied quarterback Peyton Manning with human growth hormone, a performance-enhancing drug banned by the NFL, a pharmacist who once worked at the clinic asserts in a new special report from Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit.

The report, “The Dark Side,” is the result of a monthslong investigation in which Liam Collins, a British hurdler, went undercover in an attempt to expose the widespread nature of performance-enhancing drugs in global sports. As a cover story, Collins tells medical professionals tied to the trade of performance-enhancing drugs that he is hoping for one last shot at glory at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Manning is just one of many high-profile players the report names and raises questions about.

The report airs on Sunday but was shared in advance with The Huffington Post.

I don't buy it. Ignoring the fact that I think Manning is smart enough not to do something like that and have the HGH sent to his wife, I just am not sure I trust al Jazeera to do a serious, in depth investigative report.

Bunch of Packers also mentioned in that article -- Clay Matthews, Mike Neal, Julius Peppers.

I guess the real question I have is 'Al Jazeera'?

Something is inherently wrong that Manning has seriously respond to already recanted false allegations and one put out by Al Jazeera who is the same news service that would run a story like the world is flat and the sky isn't blue.
That said, based on the precedent established in the Hardy case and several others not deemed $ bell cows for the NFL, Manning should be suspended even though it's fabricated hearsay

Well, theses days, people only talk if they believe what they're saying due to a little thing called a Civil Lawsuit. So IMO, this cat ain't makin it up becaue surely the Manning Dynasty attorneys are already monitoring this guy 24/7

The guy who made the claim has since recanted once the story went public.

Tons of politics in play here, and there are lots of people in the media eager to smear Peyton.

The key witness has already recanted.

I may eat my words but I think the dirt is on the people trying to smear Peyton...and that includes a number of news agencies eager to carry a story that wasn't ever properly vetted.

The media increasingly is 90% agenda and 10% news.

The NFL has an easy drug testing policy with all kinds of loops holes for the players.

Clay Matthews is nothing like he was when he first came into the league and his arms aren't nearly as big.

The league is littered with steroids and I just hope they don't get hit like baseball did eventually and it turns into a big witch hunt because they'll find several players on every team.

First year of HGH testing in NFL catches no one

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Fran Tarkenton is downright worried.
He's convinced that countless NFL players are using performance-enhancing drugs.
But nothing really is preventing them from doing so. And that makes him scared about their health later.
"This generation of players is absolutely at great risk of harm and short life," the Hall of Fame quarterback told USA TODAY Sports. "And I would be less than responsible if I knew that and didn't speak out."
He says he knows this because of what he sees — much bigger and faster bodies than when he played in the 1960s and '70s.
Those players who are using one of the biggest suspected drugs of choice, human growth hormone, have little fear of being caught, said Charles Yesalis, a professor at Penn State and expert on performance-enhancing drugs. He called the NFL's current test for HGH a facade.

72 hours? More like 18 years. He seemed genuinely peeved when being asked about it, voice was shaking. And as mentioned he.s too smart to have something delivered to his wife

Oh, I don't think the media is so much "agenda" driven as they are driven to "sensationalism". Sensationalism sells these days. Just look at all of the so-called "reality" TV shows that currently occupy so many time slots. There's very little reality in most of them, but tons of sensationalism, and a lot of people eat that stuff up. Used to be that the Jerry Springer Show was something of a curiosity in much the same sense as pro wrasslin'...people knew it was fake but watched for the entertainment value. Sadly, media reporting these days is much like Springer was then. Clicks=$$$, truth be damned.

The people claiming al-Jazeera is not credible, apparently think Fox and CNN are credible... What interest would al-Jazeera have in targetting Manning specifically?

And witnesses may recant, because they've probably signed privacy disclosures with athletes that use them. They would subject themselves to civil liability and lawyers of the athletes probably contacted the witness and threatened him with all sorts of legal actions if he continued down that path.
