extras in commercials

seriously, what makes someone become an extra in a commercial? isn't the most money you can make doing that is like 100 bucks?

You are lucky if you get anything. A SLEW of my friends (and roommates) were extras in a movie they filmed at UGA..."Road Trip" (the stupid movie with Tom Green). They didn't get jack except for the chance to see their faces on screen. My sister's car was actually in one shot of the movie they did right in front of Myers Hall.

My sister-in-law's father was in a Mastercard "Priceless" commercial a few years back. He didn't have any lines, but I don't know if you'd call him an extra.

He still gets royalty checks every time it plays.

yep, an old neighbor of mine was in an old miller commercial and got a bunch of royalties. Didn't make him rich or anything but a they always had nice stuff. lol
