Emmitt > Barry
Barry was still epic, though...
epic signature. the best I've seen in a while.

Their careers overlap 1981-87. IIRC, the Manster retired in '87. Swapping jersey was definitely not happening between those two.
In 11 seasons, Don Hutson led the entire NFL in receptions 8 times. He led the league in receiving yards 7 times. Led everyone in receiving yards per game 8 times, and receiving TDs a whopping 9 out of 11 seasons.
In an era where rushing the ball overwhelmingly dominated offensive playcalling, Don Hutson led the league in total yards from scrimmage 4 times, and total touchdowns 7 out of 11 seasons. Jerry Rice only led the league in total touchdowns twice in 21 years, and has never led the nfl in total yards form scrimmage... in a SIGNIFICANTLY more pass-happy era.
Quit ...on the Lions. The Lions did nothing to help Barry.Don't forget, Sanders quit on his team.
I live in his hometown about 5 miles away from the field that bears his name. Watched him in high school, and at OSU.
To this day and forever it will be Emmitt Smith > Barry Sanders.
you need to use some image hosting site to post pics here?????you have to post said picture!
You could be right it may have just been a visit. But we argued about this at work years ago and my boss pulled up an article about it. That said Smith was at OSU. Because I was saying it didnt happen and my boss proved me wrong with that article. That's why remember him being at OSU. Cause I was wrong and my boss kind of rubbed my nose in it and that's why that memory sticks out in my head. But come to think of it like you said it could have been a visit. The rules just a few years ago were much different than today regarding transfers. Once you signed your letter of intent (before you even stepped foot on campus), you were bound to the school. To transfer, a coach would have to release you from your letter of intent and he could block certain schools as a condition. If Emmitt, in this tangent universe, had signed with OSU, he would have at least sat out the 1987 season just to be able to transfer. A more likely tangent universe scenario is that he would have stayed at OSU for his freshman season, then transferred in the spring. In that case he would have had to sit out in 1988.
Of course none of this happened, just like he wasn't drafted by the Jets, took one look at Blair Thomas, then demanded a trade to Dallas. It's clearly documented that he was Florida's top hyped recruit after a record setting career at Escambia, he signed with Galen Hall and UF, starred as a freshman, and left after his junior year.
Perhaps your news source tried to imply that he was recruited by OSU and decided not to sign there because Barry Sanders was coming off a 325 yard, 2 TD season and that was somehow enough to dissuade him from joining the team. I don't know enough about Emmitt's recruiting visits, but my guess is that he was Florida's to lose (or at least one of the in-state schools). Barry didn't really explode onto the scene until his 1988 junior year.

There is a reason that we dont really care too much about "World Championships," prior to the modern Super Bowl era. In 1940 when Hutson was playing, the league had 10 whopping teams. So telling me how he led the league in receiving x number of times... big deal. He was only competing against 7 other teams. Sorry, dont care about records or stats set from guys that played when the league was 10 teams. I just dont.
Teams were also not pass happy in Rice's career like today. Im pretty sure only 1 qb reached 5k yards when Rice played..... that isnt the case today.
The best football player in my life was Jerry Rice. No other receiver was even close. You can argue about Barry and Emmitt... who you putting up against Jerry to debate who is better?
Cool, did not know that. Memory fades when you get old. Miss the Manster...Actually, 1988 was Randy White's last season. He went to training camp for Jimmy Johnson in 1989, but retired before it was over.
Only to cowboys fans
I was really just starting to follow the team and understand what was going on back them.Cool, did not know that. Memory fades when you get old. Miss the Manster...
tainted legacy?Rice was a beast. Has a tainted legacy though.
tainted legacy?

you must be kidding. You think OBJ can catch balls with one hand if he isnt using gloves that make stickum feel like vegetable oil.For using stickum

Maybe I was hoodwinked be my boss.
Don't really know about the bratwurst, I've only bought the jalapeno sausage for grilling. Good flavoring but not hot. There are different kinds than just jalapeno. Is it like a bratwurst? If so I’m looking for it next time I go grocery shopping
