News: Ezekiel Elliott: I have a lot to prove

A few of these people making excuses need to go back and watch tape of Barry Sanders. Barry NEVER had a decent o'line to run behind and had to work his tail off to get what he could. Zeke will never come close to a Barry Sanders type of RB. He doesn't have the same passion or desire and will never have it.

I've had the fortune of watching some great RB's in my time - Dorsett, Campbell, Payton, Dickerson, Sanders, and Emmitt. Zeke isn't in the same league with any of them and it isn't even close.
there u go, not hating, just the reality that he isnt as good as he thinks he is. And some of his fanboys.

I was actually going to compliment him, he’s finally right. He does need to make more people miss and he does have a lot to prove. I’ve been saying that for years, glad he’s finally on the same page.

This cat is and has been the most spoiled back in the league since the day he was drafted. He has had the best consistent O line and great receivers to take pressure off him, more so than any other RB. He shouldn’t have any excuses and should be top 5 in every statistical category. Instead, he only has most rushing yards due to most carries which is due to play calling. Oh, and did I mention he has about 10X the room to run compared to other top backs in the league?
Lol have you watched all the games the last few years bro. 80 Oct of the time hes running with stacked boxes and our online has been consistently good but not as great as his 1st year. Receivers have been decent besides last year and hopefully this year, dark wouldn't throw deep his first few years and stupid coaching to boot. Spoiled nah his expectations have been high because of his draft spot. Saquan had been given the best back in the league title because of potential not because of what hes done and hes injured to much , Christian M is his hole team. Yes zeke gets alot of touches and still stays healthy what's wrong with that. It's like saying brees only has all those yards cause he throws it 40 times a game......

Because his numbers/performance have declined since his big payday. Now he's just "faded" all the time & continues making a spectacle of himself.

His numbers have declined a whole year sure lol, how about dark actually started throwing more and deep shots, wrs actually stepped up, pollard came along, Zekes not gonna have the BEST numbers every season. Im looking for top 5ish CONSISTENCY and HEALTHY which he has been my friend

Speed electrifies but power demoralizes. Zeke has more than enough speed to rip off 20 to 30 yard runs at any given moment. Given the additional weapons we have that a defense must contend with, all it takes is a little creativity in game planning and those 20 to 30 yard runs good easily turn into 40 or 50. Until then he will just chip away at your soul and test your commitment to making the tackle.

if i'm a defense, i'd much rather take my chances with a grinding bell cow,.vs a instant breakaway threat.

You have to stay on your toes, with stacked gap assignments, maintain your lanes and get off blocks as oft as possible
all game long. You simply cannot let up for even an instant, or the game instantly changes on you with the killer long runs.
That's demoralizes you.

As a grinder you get to live another day with a 10 yard run, . you can get won down methodically but if you have a defense that
can match the physicality of a grinder game, then you have a better chance.

We couldn't out-physical the Saints, but imagine if we had the 2016 version of Zeke that could run off
one or two of those patented explosive 40+ runs or quick RB screen passes to payday TD's.
That could have instantly changed the tone and momentum of the game much in our favor.

Goes right back to one of John Madden's saying: It's two things NFL defenses fear the most: ...Speed and a Running QB

Dude, shut the hell up and ball out...

I want him to exceed his rookie physical skills, and why shouldn't he? He should be in his "prime" now...

IF he'd only get a decent haircut, like in his rookie year, everything else would magically fall into place...

When zeke came into the league, defenses were always worried about the big breakaway run.

that was the Adrian Peterson fear factor he came into the league with - he can bust the breakaway threat with a big 40+ run
on any given play, or he can pound you down with his incredible power. that was the combined uniqueness about
making zeke the 4th overall pick and the league's highest paid RB (at the time before McCaffrey)

Do we even see the once oft- hurdle over defenders leaps anymore ?

i still maintain that Garrett regime had to re-conditioned him to be a more bulker, bell cow grinder and less breakaway threat.
After 2017, we no longer saw the big 40+ splash runs ...or that quick RB screen on the way to homerun TD.
We still know about the angry runner, the tremendous power and terrific knack for the goal line TDs.
And his blitz blocking remains critically key ...but made him instantly dangerous was that fear of breaking the long run to the house.

The excuses this guy gets are unbelievable. It seems as if a lot of you don’t watch any other teams play and have no idea how fortunate the ewok is and how much room he has to run on most plays compared to other RB’s. Drop the “defenses focus on him” argument as well, 23 other RB’s faced more stacked boxes than he did last year and several RB’s don’t have the quality receivers we do to take the pressure off. Oh yeah, did I mention the O line?

Keep making excuses though, it’s funny how wrong some of you are.
Zeke even admits what we have been saying yet there are still excuses. Willfully blind.

i know you’re trying to defend Zeke, but it is absolutely embarrassing that the offensive line not being as good as 2016 is used as an excuse for him. While it may not be as good, it has still been one of the top run blocking lines all 4 years he has been here.

Even in 2017 when he only averaged 4.1 ypc, Morris was able to average 4.8 ypc despite the fact he faced a greater % of his carries against stacked boxes and he was the starter for the 3 games our offensive line was at its absolute worst during Zeke’s career. Zeke was lucky to have been suspended those games. His average probably would be been under 4 that year if he had played.

You want to make a friendly bet on that running against stacked boxes 80% of the time? I’ll take the actual statistics over what you see any day.

Lol, Saquon gets titles for potential not what he’s done?

So I guess being the the 3rd rookie RB to ever have more than 2,000 all purpose yards isn’t doing enough?

I guess being only the third RB in the past 28 years to have 8 or more 40+ yard plays isn’t enough (before the ‘19 season Barkley had 8 on 331 touches, zeke had 6 on 978 touches).

I guess having the most receptions ever for a rookie RB doesn’t mean anything?

I guess beating Dickersons record of having the most games with 100+ yards from scrimmage doesn’t mean anything?

I guess missing 3 games, playing with a high ankle sprain 3/4ths of the season and still getting over 1,000 yards doesn’t mean anything?

I could go on but hopefully you see how wrong you are. He did all of this behind one of the worst lines in the league as well. And yes, zeke has had a top 5 run blocking line 3 out of his 4 years, one year they were 10th.

Nothing is wrong with zeke getting a lot of touches and staying healthy although it’s easier not to get injured when you have as much room to run as he does whereas other RB’s are getting mobbed behind the LOS and dog piled by the other team as soon as they get the ball.

Carrying the ball more than any other RB doesn’t make a RB elite, that is strictly play calling. When you look at individual statistics (yards after contact, yards after catch, broken tackles, forced missed tackles, short yard situations, etc) he falls well short of elite.

You’re low key faded dude, you see what your eyes want you to see...that zeke is all that and some. The facts say otherwise.

We have heard Zeke working on his receiving skills during his informal, off-season workouts. Early reports coming out of camp saying that both backs are being used far more as receivers. I think we will finally see the full potential of Zeke on display this season. I'm expecting a big season from him.

This is the thing zeke-bashers ignore. They claim "he's got no flashy speed". Well...sure there were times he could rip a big run....but it was never his forte. Not even in college. He'd have 30 yard in the 1st half, and 150 in the second.

It's not a "slow start" nor "no speed" it's how a power running game works.

Having said that....here's hoping this year he comes in smooth and clean. And a not dysfunctional staff.

I love this from Zeke, and I hope a lot of posters recognize what some of us have been pointing out and yall have been failing to realize.

If he was able to start making guys miss, instead of just falling forward a couple extra yards that would help this offense out tremendously.

He also said he in a different segment the thing he's been working on the most on is route running. Him going from one of the least efficient(bad) pass catching backs in the league to at least average would also help a ton!

lol , that is not a individual goal E. and it is only one goal, a team goal.
And reading this I now wonder what his goal pertaining to winning a SB or just getting to one have been since 2016??
It takes 4 years to start having a goal of winning a SB?

“Just finishing, got to make more guys miss in open field. I don’t know.” .....well for starters stop running right into people, try to be elusive
once in the open.

“I think I do have a lot to prove,” Elliott said. “I have high expectations of myself. It’s not something you go enforce....huh?. You just go grind, go to work every day and let it happen.” ..... just let it happen lol ok E good plan.

Not using the online as an excuse it's just facts. This guy can have 1450 yes 15 TD and 500 recieving yards and people will complain cause he didnt get to 1500 yards rushing, it's just funny to me

This goes down as one of the worst posts I've seen to date on here lol.
