FEATURED FA agent thread

Sucked enough to go to SF and get 8.5 sacks. Sucked enough to not play Wilson through two regimes and than by injury he comes in a wreaks havoc.....coaches aren’t always the brightest bulbs.

That's exactly my point though lol.

I think its just a issue with development. I can believe these guys don't show much in practice. They did the same thing to Dak. If they judged Dak based on what he did in practice he probably would've never got a chance to start and would've been behind Kellen Moore.

I can get why a guy like Wilson wouldn't start because he probably practices like crap. But when the lights cut on he's a different player.

Depends on what Quinn is looking for. He’s a different breed cat than Nolan. He knows what he’s looking for and has had success in this league.

I believe just based off of price, injury and age we are choosing to go elsewhere.
Man I hope they don't do this thing where they pass up players because a DC doesn't like them or they don't "fit". They did this crap with Maranelli and forced personnel on Nolan.

So we still are allowing DC's to make roster moves? We didn't learn from Maranelli?

If we're installing a particular system, then the head coach and personnel office are going to try to get players the defensive coordinator wants, within reason. Systems can be adjusted for a great player, but if a DC prefers long, tall corners over fast ones because of the way he plays his back seven, for instance, then there's no reason not to give him that as long as you don't pick that player over a better one.

That's fine. That's what teams do. They better be doing it for the right coach though because we did this with Maranelli and its how we ended up with Taco Charlton and not TJ Watt. Maybe they are still searching for a 1 tech because I don't currently see a 1T like Quinn usually uses.

I think HC And The 2 Coordinstors need to talk with FO, what type of players want or need or who they want

Agreed, but we don't know what Quinn is doing, hopefully sticking to the best player philosophy. We may know more after the draft

You definitely have to trust your scouts as well. If your scouts say one player is better than the other at the same position, then you've got to be able to adjust as a coach. Marinelli was very strict in his approach to positions. That's why we ended up with Charlton over Watt, from my understanding, because the scouts had Watt rated a little higher.

I just hope he doesn't devalue a position, like it appears Marinelli did with 1-tech. The point of the draft is to improve based on the players available. Yes, each scheme has positions that are more important, but you want the best players you can get at every starting position. We've treated 1-tech like it wasn't a valued position, filling it with whatever cheap body we could find.

It may be a two-down position, but that doesn't mean you don't need a quality starter for those two downs. And if you approach it right, the player doesn't even have to be just a two-down player.

That’s why I said...let coaches coach and let scouts scout. The scouts know who fits your personnel.

Wasn't about his age. Or his injury anyway wasn't. Could've happened to a 25 year old.
I think one needs to be at least 26 to legally suffer that injury lol.

But seriously IIRC the team had something in the contract about that particular injury so there must have been a history.

I wonder if it isn't problematic to where he can't play again.

I still think this guy is returning. If not why did our GMs son utter his name in an early January discussion w media?

No reports yet on Kazee and Hooker. Initially it stated that they were both coming in today. But other reports state they were coming in either yesterday or today. A little confusing, but you would think if they indeed came in yesterday someone would have seen and posted something.

My guess is that they are both at the Star today since nothing was reported yesterday.

the PR guy for Dallas is likely keeping it a bit of a mystery and throwin up smokescreens to media members. For all we know they met with them Tuesday.

That is my worry. That they came in and left already without a contract in place. Normally if someone comes in for a visit and the Joneses likes them they dont leave without a contract.
