FA and draft thoughts

I know we should draft a QB but really at #4? Is Lynch or Goff or Cook anywhere as good as Winston or Mariotta last year? I don't believe so. I believe you stick to your draft board especially in the first two rounds and then if there is a QB you want late second then trade your 3rd and possibly a 2nd in 2017 to get him if you believe it is worth the cost. If Bosa and Treadwell and Goff are at #4 who do you think would be the best player out of that group? Who would have the most impact for 2016 season in getting you to the playoffs? We need a rookie QB that can learn behind Romo, but we need a veteran backup that can win games for us. IMO, getting RGIII if Washington releases him is by far the best option then draft a Hackenberg or Hogan or Wentz in the top of the 3rd to learn the system for a couple of years. Really how long did Rodgers sit behind Farve (who never got injuried)?

This needs to be a draft where the top two guys we take make an immediate impact for 2016.

IMO, if Bosa is at #4 you take him, if he is gone and Treadwell is there you take him since having Dez and he would make running and throwing the ball far easier.

In FA, if dreams could come through, then RGIII, Sean Smith CB, Danny Trevathan ILB, Fairley DT would make for a great off season.

I can't get caught QB naked again after this year.

If Goff picks it up quickly they can always trade the back up at the deadline when teams are desperate.

If Cassel rates a 5th, Kap would rate a 3rd imo.

Or we can roll with Moore as the primary backup until Goff overtake him for that roll.

You guys are underestimating Lynch.he has a average at best oline and bunch of walk ons as his top receivers.to do what he did this year is phenomenal.

I would be thrilled if we signed one FA of substance. What I assume will happen is we will sign a couple of stop gap types so we can go into the draft not being forced to reach.

I hope this season showed that Romo was covering a lot of warts and the team reacts by bringing in several difference makers.

this is completely in hindsight.most of the board members here thought winston would be a bust and mAriotta couldn't handle the pro game, how did that work out?.just listen to Jerry who thinks a rookie QB selected in the first would make a immediate impact if Romo goes down.

The biggest impact in 2016? That isn't the goal the goal is to get the player that impacts the success of the franchise the most. We can't be short sighted that kind of thinking is what had us in mediocrity for so long.

I'm hoping for a trade-down and pick of Ezekiel. Know a lot of folks aren't high on picking a RB in the 1st but think he's going to be special.

Elliot is my second choice behind Treadwell, I hope they don't waste a pick on Lynch or Goff. Like I have been saying OB will be addressed in FA I believe.

My wishful thinking list

- Sign RG3
- Keep Kellen Moore
- Draft Treadwell or Ramsey
- If Treadwell is drafted, go after Weddle, If Ramsey is drafted, go after Alshon
- Release Brandon Carr
- Draft Derrick Henry or Alex Collins
- Resign Dunbar
- Find out what we truly have in Escobar
- Do not re-sign Greg Hardy

Great OP, its going to be fun because have a lot of holes, a lot of free agent money, and a lot of draft picks.

I had a thread about this a week or so ago and I still think the timing is the same. Sign a SS and 1T immediately, then go after targets of opportunity at key spots (if they are available) like Alshon Jeffrey and a CB. Then draft according to what holes still need to be filled.

I think we draft a RB and QB no matter what, but its going to be fun to watch this play out.

I don't think we can with Moore. Teams can take away the deep ball too easily.

He is nothing Moore than an emergency fill-in.

I like the plan until the Hardy part. I think he is key to the DL.
Not a big fan of Moore but as a QB3 we can do worse. I would rather groom for the future.

Yeah I think we have to spend some money this year. We need some vets that don't have learning curves.

The draft picks are a bonus. We drafted 3 1st round talents last year and still went 4-12.

Romo really doesn't have much time left. We have to go for it.

My thinking is that everyone we can get at number 4 we can get in FA EXCEPT QB.

I want Lynch.

I think a big factor in that decision will be if the Dallas brass feel he's truly worth the #4 pick without moving down in the draft order. He's reportedly fairly raw for such an early pick. Of course, how he performs in the Senior Bowl if he participates there might also affect his status.
