We have some cap space and flexibility this year, combined with some great draft picks. It is time for Will McClay to shine.

Deciding who to re-sign and to add as FAs are huge choices but they have to made with the draft in mind. The QB position was a huge problem this year and needs to be addressed. Historically it is usually fixed through the draft.

We can fill some holes in FA and this is a good year to forget about the comp pick formula. If we keep Hardy and we should then that is a 3/4th round pick we lose out on if we go the distance on comps picks. This would be the year to sign 3-4 mid level guys and not the bargain basement guys we have added the last couple of years.

Some Draft picks vs FA choices

Joey Bosa vs GHardy
Jalen Ramsey vs Weddle or Berry
LTreadwell vs Alshon Jeffrey
Haregreaves vs Jenkins, Claiborne
Nmendiche vs Fairley, Knighton
Elliott, Henry vs Miller, DMartin
JSmith, MJack vs RMcClain

Obviously we can't sign or draft all these guys but we have options. We also have 9 total draft picks so we should try to move up when possible to get qulaity over quantity.

At this point I would have to go with signing some vets and drafting Goff or Lynch.
I would sign whatever vet QB is released that wants to take a 1 year 5m deal to back up Romo like RGIII, JManzeil, Kap or NFoles.

I really want Trumain johnson . He's going to be a star and the Rams can't afford him and Jenkins . He's the type of press CB we need.

I would be thrilled if we signed one FA of substance. What I assume will happen is we will sign a couple of stop gap types so we can go into the draft not being forced to reach.

If we draft a QB in the first round i can't see us paying a backup 5m for a year. Just stick with Moore as the second string QB.

I can't get caught QB naked again after this year.

If Goff picks it up quickly they can always trade the back up at the deadline when teams are desperate.

If Cassel rates a 5th, Kap would rate a 3rd imo.

I love his pocket awareness, vision to throw all over the field, escapability, size. Goff has a marginally better arm but is inferior in these other regards.

I see too much wild thing in Lynch. Big guys with big arms can have trouble with fundamentals.

I think Goff is more polished while still having all the throws and mobility.

Lynch is money accurate on his throws and they had him throwing 50 times a game every game. If he actually had accuracy problems I would agree. On the flip side a 6'7" guy can see over the OL and can take punishment. He is fairly athletic for a big man.

You are in the minority there.

Do you think his ceiling is higher?

I think Goff is more NFL ready. But that's not a priority for the Cowboys. And yes, I believe Lynch has a higher ceiling. Especially if he can sit and learn for a couple of years. Which he will do in Dallas. If Lynch has to play on day 1, he will be set up for failure, IMO.

I'm hoping for a trade-down and pick of Ezekiel. Know a lot of folks aren't high on picking a RB in the 1st but think he's going to be special.

I'm more apt to go with a quality veteran at SS and the MIKE than go with a rookie. Mainly because those positions ask so much from players and it goes beyond athleticism and size. But, if the veteran is only average, I'm more likely to want a playmaking rookie at those positions instead.

I would prefer Eric Berry, I just don't see the Chiefs letting him go. So that would make Weddle as the main guy and I think I could buy into that.

At corner, we need more talent, talent that fits more of a zone scheme and more bodies. I would imagine that would require both FA's and draft picks. I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up Kenya Dennis later on in the draft.

As of today my top three are Goff, Lynch and Wentz (in that order). I do think Lynch has the highest ceiling. Honestly, I'm fine with us getting any of the above.
