I got this from the thehuddlereport.com. I thought it was interesting. I'm not sure how to format the columns, but BONUS is $21mm, for example, for Samuel, and his ANNUAL is $8.5mm/year.

These are pure guess-timates on how much it costs to get a CB in FA.

According to their estimates, R Gay looks like good value, IMO.

(I thought I'd post this instead of another JJ the devil thread.)

CORNERBACKS
RNK PLAYER HT WT AGE TEAM BONUS ANNUAL
1 Asante Samuel 5-10 185 27 Patriots $21.00M $8.50M

3 Nnamdi Asomugha 6-2 210 27 Raiders $19.00M $8.00M
4 Drayton Florence 6-0 195 27 Chargers $18.00M $7.50M
5 Eric Green (RFA) 5-11 195 26 Cardinals $6.00M $4.50M
6 Brian Kelly 5-11 193 32 Buccaneers $5.50M $4.50M
7 Jacques Reeves 5-11 188 25 Cowboys $5.00M $4.00M
8 Randall Gay 5-11 190 26 Patriots $3.50M $3.00M

I know it is very popular to dream about this but I seriously doubt we will spend big money on a FA CB. I would much rather see us spend one of our 1st round picks on one and save the cap space for other areas of need.

We have two starters on the roster already in Newman and Henry and need another quality guy as the nickel/backup guy. Reeves is not as horrible as many here would like to think but he also is not ready for prime time. We need a guy for depth and that precludes us from signing a guy expecting a $20M bonus.

We will draft a guy in the 1st or 2nd round to play CB, count on it.

Who do you let go of then, Newman or Hamlin, because you can't keep both AND sign this guy.

Out of all of the need positions Dallas has and the variety of ways they could go about filling those holes, CB seems the most obvious to address in the draft.

If Florence and Asomugha are only $1 mill difference, I go with Asomugha. Realistically at those prices we could actually sign Gay and Asomugha at those per year prices.

Saw the numbers on Barber and Hamlin which really weren't bad.

Man if we could get Gay and Asomugha, it would change the parameters in the draft for us.

I like D Ward, M Moore, and R Cartwright here.

I guess Fargas will probably be too expensive, IMO.
