There isn't a whole bunch of guys that could be cut to free up money right away.

Tyron Smith could be cut pre june 1st, which would free up 5mil, but then LT becomes an even bigger need.
Chris Jones seems obvious and they can gain 2 mil.
Ant Brown can save 2.75mil, but we also may be left with no depth at corner, and his cap hit is reasonable for his play.

I can see a lot of big names get cut next week. I’m not saying we will but other teams may need to with this cap coming. 15 million less at the lowest with 180 million since it was 195 million last year will hurt teams more than we realize

Nah he is still on his rookie deal. Worth keeping.

That 5th year option is something else.

Why? He cost 3.7 million against the cap. If we release him he cost 3.7 in dead money. 0 net gained.

Not picking up the 5th year option I get. But he’s too cheap to NOT keep around another year.

It's a great year to have cap space. There are going to be some real bargains. Teams with QB's on rookie contracts will clean up.

Cap space seems really weird this year and not just because the cap is lower in general, 3 teams have a ton (Jags, Jets, Patriots), then it's like a $20m drop from the Pats to the next closest team and keeps falling off from there until you get into huge negative numbers with the Falcons, Chiefs, Rams, Eagles and Saints. LIke even if Brees retires and gets off their books that's a huge yikes.
