ITS tough what to make of the relationship between Dez and the team. While the Cowboys seem to be saying they love him yadda yadda, they seem to be taking a pretty firm stance on not wanting to give him alot of upfront money. More of a pay on a yearly basis. They offered him a 5mil SB, and 20mil total guaranteed. Which basically means they guaranteed part of all of his base salary in some yrs. Thats called a i dont trust you clause lol.

You cant fault the team for doing that, and you cant fault Dez for being mad about it. But Dez has nobody but himself to blame. Thats the part i think he's being immature about.

At the end of the day i think he will be franchised at the start of the league yr. And if that happens that will limit what they can do in FA. Atleast at the start of it. Dallas and Dez need to hash this out before March 10th, and thats whats best for the team.
RESIGN

Demarco Murray RB
Unless Dez is somehow miraculously not on the team in 2015 i dont think Murray is unless he somehow agrees to play for 4mil a yr. Thats what Dallas set their market for him at. Again they are playing the PR campaign nicely with him too, in throwing him compliments and telling him he;s wanted. Team doesnt want to burn any bridges, but i dont think anybody realistically believes he is coming back to the Cowboys.

Certain people on this site will say Parnell is the guy they need to resign because he;s younger and has less miles. But lets be real, Parnell is 1 1/2yrs younger then Free. Thats not a good thing. Free is very good in space and had the best yards per run average running behind him on the team. In the pass blocking game, he has hands down better then Parnell. Dallas missed him when he was gone. He should be starting for Dallas 2-3 more yrs.
RESIGN

Bruce Carter LB
Carter was a difference maker this yr. It seemed like he knew what he was doing and the game slowed down and he was able to make alot of plays. He understood his job and his reaction times were faster than 2013. I dont think you can allow Carter to go unless you have a guy who can replace his production or you are just creating another hole. Dallas has 2 guys on the roster right now that can play MLB, but how many can play and produce at SAM? Or better how many players do they have on the team right now THAT HAVE produced at SAM? Bruce Carter.
RESIGN

I understand why some people would want him back in Dallas. He's physical. But he cant finish games. People say its because he was off for the yr. But he has had that problem all the way back to Alabama. He had this problem at Oakland. He is a player who doesnt like to practice, again it goes all the way back to Alabama. Thats why while he was there he didnt get along with Sabin. And like in other places, he rarely practiced in Dallas, rarely finished games. He will make enough plays catch you attention, but when you need him most he will not be there. Thats been his M.O his whole career. Nothings Changes, except now he's not the superstar, now he has to fight for a contract. I wouldnt slow down Hitchens growth to keep him.
LET HIM GO

Justin Durant LB
He was playing really good before he got hurt. But his injury was a blessing because they saw what they had in Hitchens. He is another player that i wouldnt want this team to slow the progress of Hitchens. If it was up to me i would bring him back at the vet minimum as a backup or for packages.
RESIGN

I think he is like Murray, as good as gone. I see him going to the Commanders. He will get some money and will start for them at RT.

Jerry loves this guy, and i dont think they will move on from him. But i dont think they will rely on him anymore then the rotation player he was last yr. Another guy who will probably be brought back at or close to the vet minimum salary.

You think about Hayden and the first thought in your head is he is on the team because Marinelli's guy. then you look and the guy has 38 tackles in a rotation which lead the DL. He doesnt give you much but he gives you alot of hustle. Thats why Marinelli seems to like him. I could see him resigning again for cheap on a 1 yr deal.
RESIGN

Sterlin Moore CB
He played really good at the end of the yr. Yes he got targeted alot and gave up some yrds, but he also made alot of good plays on the ball. He's agressive and isnt affraid to tackle or hit. He gets in WRs faces. I have no idea how come they dont try to play him at FS in packages. He played this role for the Patriots. I want him back.
RESIGN

He;s a RFA but noway should this team pay 2.187 mil for a RD2 tender for him. They can have a first yr caphit of around 1mil with a 3-4 yr deal. Not only that but it keeps him out of FA next yr when he is a UFA.

I agree with the exceptions of Murray and Hayden. Hayden can be easily upgraded from Free Agency or the draft. I think the Cowboys will sign Murray to something like a four year $24 million deal. They can create plenty of cap space to sign Him and Romos shelf life is nearing the end. It is time for a Win now philosophy.

I agree, but i just dont know if Dallas is going to spend money on DL. They rotate them too much for the team to spend big. And if you are rotating them, i dont see Hayden as a bad option for the 1tech in that 2nd wave of DL.

In reguards to Murray, Dallas isnt going to negotiate. Thats've made that clear. They gave him a offer, and yes they speak highly of Murray but they always end the the conversation with he is going to have to do whats best for him.

The only way i think Dallas restructures Romo's contract is if they know they can get a guy like Suh or JPP. Other then that i dont see Romo's deal being touched. They do that in 2016 his cap hit will be 17mil. And in 2017 can be cut and save 11.5mil on the cap.

Hayden should not be on this defense if we handle FA and the draft correctly. He's a huge JAG, easily upgradable.

YES...he should be gone and I think Spence doesn't come back either. Most every other prediction OP made I agree with.

Yep.

If we want to upgrade this defense then Hayden is the first place we should start.

I'm not opposed to the above happening. I think all of the guys you said that we should re-sign need to be re-signed. Most definetly. I'm on the bus of wanting Demarco back for the right price but it depends on what is the right price for this team. McClain.....my concerns with him is not staying on the field. He had problems last year but that was to be expected from all the time off from football. Its the potential off the field problems that can cause a problem and this defense doesn't once again need to worry about a linebacker stepping up because someone is either hurt or suspended.

Yep.

You also have to be realistic about upgrading your defense though. Hayden as a rotational defensive linemen isn't the worst thing for this defense.

If we are being realistic then in my opinion it's safe to say that Nick Hayden is the worst defensive starter on this defense. He is constantly getting pushed a couple yards back with a single man. His only quality is his hussle.

We need talent in the trenches and Hayden only has a spec of talent worth mentioning.

I don't disagree with you but you have to be realistic about obtaining talent in the trenches. This team needs a few of those guys and they are not littered all over free agency and they may cost more than you want to pay. For what he does do.....he's a hard worker and a hustler. Maybe not starting material but as a rotational guy to keep your starters fresh? He can fill in. Especially for the minimum.

He wouldn't have a place on my football team, but I am not in the field of being a professional football coach so take it for what it's worth.

I wouldn't have him in Dallas just to be a body to spell a starter. We can find somebody to pay at the minimum that wouldn't get pushed around senseless like Hayden does play after play. There is no upside or benefit to him being on the field in any capacity in my opinion.

Guess you didnt see Selvie and lawrence and for a good period Spencer play this yr. Hayden lead the entire DL in Tackles. not too shabby

this new news about a possible fine of four games has turned me a little bit on Ro. That and as you have said
his lack of passion for the game. It's some what deceiving with Ro but the flags are popping up a tad.

I'd keep Parnell and Free.

I'd keep CJ Speelman

I think as I've said Murray is here but if they went high in the draft for an RB, I'd let him go.

I think the FO and the staff are capable of deciding what to do with each of their vets. They'll be placed under plenty of stress to resign their many vet FAs and nobody should know better than Marinelli what to do with guys like Hayden, Carter and the like. Same goes with the offensive players that must be discussed and decided upon. If one thing is certain this FO and coaching staff can most likely be counted on to handle it very capably. I feel extremely confident in that. The staff, 21 coaches and our pro scouts can figure it out, no prob.

Bruce Carter.

RESIGN

Jeremy Parnell OT
I think he is like Murray, as good as gone. I see him going to the Commanders. He will get some money and will start for them at RT.
GONE

Anthony Spencer DE
Jerry loves this guy, and i dont think they will move on from him. But i dont think they will rely on him anymore then the rotation player he was last yr. Another guy who will probably be brought back at or close to the vet minimum salary.
RESIGN

Nick Hayden DT

RESIGN

Cole Beasley WR
He;s a RFA but noway should this team pay 2.187 mil for a RD2 tender for him. They can have a first yr caphit of around 1mil with a 3-4 yr deal. Not only that but it keeps him out of FA next yr when he is a UFA.
RESIGN

Dwayne Harris WR
I know what he does and its good for the Cowboys, but he gives you nothing as a WR. Again do you keep him and slow the progress of younger guys? But Harris is a ST ace in every way imaginable, not just returning but covering.
RESIGN

Tyler Clutts FB
He should be resigned and should be a easy one.

Guess you didnt see Selvie and lawrence and for a good period Spencer play this yr. Hayden lead the entire DL in Tackles. not too shabby

I did and I'd still show Hayden the door.

The guy got pushed around more than anybody out there. My guess is that u probably saw that but fell in love with his effort.

Keep your loser mentality. The Cowboys are going to do what needs to be done and upgrade the spot hopefully with somebody that won't get blown off the ball 3 and 4 yards with regularity.
