Stop it. I despise that commercial. Its on everywhere.

I'd get pounded to a pulp, but I ever see any of those guys in person, I am kicking them right in the shin for making such a dumb commercial and subjecting me to it thirty times a day.

As for the OL, the FA options are pretty lousy IMO. I am not sure how the team is going to go about fixing it. We might not see the dramatic changes that everyone wants.

C Trey Teague 6 UFA...did he and Bledsoe have trouble with the exchange?

It's been proven that Bledsoe has a problem with exchanges.

G Toniu Fonoti 3 UFA...what is the fascination with this guy?

He's absolutley ENORMOUS.

I think it's a great idea....I think if a team is truly rebuilding, guys at the stage of their career like Allen, should be traded... instead, we're signing them...ala Rivera.

Couldn't agree more, if you are going to sign a lineman sign someone who is an up and coming. Not someone who will be around for a couple of years and leave us with nothing, right back where we were.

They may cost a little more but you will get a greater return as well.

Flo -keep

Allen- keep for now, unless we sign a FA but my guess is he gets one more year

Johnson/Gourde- Johnson is to weak send him packing,
Gourde if you can't snap in the shotgun you have no business being in the position, leave him at G

Rivera- let's hope the injuries were to blame, either way he is here for at least one more year, can't take the cap it

Pettiti- not an option in my book, let him devolop another year or so behind a FA or draftee with some talent

We need to get another OT - Pettiti might get good enough but we need a good option if he doesn't. Columbo= hard to tell. SO I think we either draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd, or get one in FA. I kind of doubt we draft one- so FA is the way probably.
Center needs upgrading- Gurode does not seem to be able to do it- so FA there possibly - not much looks good in the draft there. We are stuck with RIvera due to cap hit- hope he just had a bad year. Peterman is really going to have to jump in ability to get playing time. Tucker might actually be better at guard- maybe he will be tried there. Gurode played great vs Carolina- did not do much against the Rams; that is his story up and down.

Justin Hartwig is a guy lots of folks think is good -- he also played some G and T in college I believe. 3 year starter in Tenn.

The Jets may release Mawae and Fabini -- guys with experience with BP.

I like Ashworth - he plays both sides, is young, will likely be cheap since he isn't dominant.

I'm one of those folks. If we can't have Bentley, Hartwig is the only other guy on that list that intrigues me from an age/value perspective. He's a young, former sixth round pick who's earned his starting job for the Titans and he's sick of losing, based on an article I read somewhere earlier this year. Sounds like a clear but reasonably priced- kind of like Anthony Henry last year.

I would love to be able to draft a defensive playmaker with our first pick, but we need immediate help and I just can't get over the chaff on this FA Tackle list.

And with Hartwig you aren't paying for reputation -- which is what I think will up Bentley's price. Hartwig looks like a guy who could be had for a more reasonable contract.

this is exhibit 1 on what happens when you consistently miss in the draft. when was the last time we drafted a lineman that we were able to stick in there and say, "position filled?" flozell? that's pretty pathetic. add in the fact that there were a couple second rounders in there and its a waste.

so you end up where we are - with at least 3/5 of our starting five in question, including one FA signee that looks like a huge mistake, now that he has apparent back problems, which has ended i dont know how many cowboys careers in recent years.

i really do wonder what would happen if we let tucker play at guard, along with gurode, instead trying to make gurode a center, and tucker a tackle. dont you have to just sometimes say "this is what this guy does best, even though his measurables say he should excel at _________ too...?"

i also think keeping ben noll over kurt vollers was a mistake. i dont even know if vollers is still in the league but i do remember he was able to "handle" strahan and kearse as well. plus he came back this past year bigger and stronger. IMO definintely wrong cut there.

not down in the mouth, just curious to see how we resolve this bc with bledsoe and our desire to run the ball regularly, it needs to be.

I'd be surprised if BP hasn't gone through these players' 2005 performances several times already. I'm sure highlights of these guys are being scrutinized.

It's just so obvious what the main problems on the 2005 Cowboys were,

1. Kicker
2. OL
3. FS
4. Better and more depth at LB

And I still think we need a big NT to complement Glover.

I agree with all the needs...but a WR would be nice via the draft at some point!!

Vollers was like any other guy -- he could fill in for a game or two -- but you get a team looking at film on him -- and us not being able to help him consistently b/c Tucker was starting on the other side -- and he would have been toast.

OK, my top 5 free agent offensive lineman targets (in order of preference):

LeCharles Bentley, C
Steve Hutchinson, OG
Seth McKinney, C
Toniu Fonoti, OG
Justin Hartwig, C

Get me one guard from that list, and one center, and get a quality tackle on the first day of the draft... and you can almost find interesting offensive line prospects in the last round or two of the draft too...

I'd like our offensive line a lot better next year if our offseason went something like that...

the other thing is, we can't have a good line with Bledsoe under center....we need a VERY good line...one break down, on any give play, and he's toast...so every lineman has to do his job because Bledsoe can't avoid even one guy rushing him.

And yet, even with an awful OL, a poor running game, a young, injury-plagued defense, no kicker, and one of the league's toughest schedules, we STILL managed to go 9-7 and could easily have beaten every team on our schedule.
