Lee is not a question mark. He is a Pro Bowler.
DLaw barely played last year and was just getting his feet wet in the playoffs, same with Brent.
You are right though, to compare the D on March 9 to the team that will take the field is premature.

How could Lee not be a question mark? Hes coming back from a significant injury and has a history of season ending injuries. I love him on the field, but hard to count on the guy plus you never know if/how the ACL will affect his play.

I still think you are missing my point. When FA starts tomorrow, if Mcclain, Durant, Carter and Moore are all allowed to test the waters like everyone expects, we will/are a less talented defense than last season at that point. Thats not saying it will stay that way due to FA and draft picks, but tomorrow the D will be less talented. Come July, who knows. That was my point.

Lee is no bigger risk than anyone else. He might get hurt next year, he may never get hurt again. We know he is one of the best LBers in football.

How would Lee not be a bigger risk than the average player? He hasn't played a full season in the NFL due to injuries and has had season ending injuries the last 3 years to different parts of his body. He is great when on the field, but realistically its not smart to rely on the guy to remain healthy

This unit doesn't have to be world beaters. Just stay opportunistic and make some big plays. Getting Lee, DLaw and Clairborne back would be a huge infusion of talent before FA and the draft even happened. Just don't be too afraid to jump into the FA pond. There is talent to be had and you don't have to wait to shop at the clearance rack.

true it does not have to be a unit of world beaters. But mein theory of great Ds are:
1. Blue chip corner
2. Monster LB
3. DE who consistently keep the QB running and scared, thus heping the aforementioned 1. and 2.

3 bonified monster players and 8 adequate (even journneymens) can do it.

But at the present time i cannot say we half any blue chip corner, monster LB or a DE as in Ware's prime.
that worry me.
Yes, cap constraints and all that. It wont be easy but I hope something will fall to us via FA. I half no big expectations in the draft because them rookies they are trying to learn the NFL system and talent, if any, will take a year or two to come forth.
Thunderation i would give my right side of mein big brain just to half those three type players and see what develop with our now-excellent offense.

Stay classy because you are. your fiend, Gimme.

carter, durant, mcclain, moore will be gone. We going to sign guys like rivers to take their place. Probably draft a guy for de. The d line will basically be the same. lb core will be a lot less talented.

You still lost me. On March 9th before free agency and the draft begins and you claim the defense will be less talented than last year?

It's not chronic injuries, they were just torn ligaments. He is already ahead of schedule. He will be fine.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong with Lee. I've tapered my expectations with him at this point.

With the cap Its looking that way. Dallas will not sign any big fa's and they have to bargain bin shop and do lb and dline by comittee. It could be more talented.
