It is tough to trade aging players with big contracts

Bluntly, I don't think you'd recognize a good pass rusher if one strolled up to you and bit you on your butt...
You clearly have NO grasp of what a nose tackle's responsibilities are...

Someday I'm going to write a book at this one sentence; if you stare at it long enough and contemplate its meaning, I think you can see the face of God.

Sinister;1416766 said:Nah, you're way off base what the Cowboys need is a pass rushing corner. Newman is a terrible pass rushing corner.
Better yet a pass rushing free safety. Maybe the Cowboys should trade for that Archuleta guy in Washington. Washington should have just used him to rush the passer instead of playing in coverage. All I'm saying is that Archuleta was misused and if the Cowboys got him maybe he could play somewhere on the field where he could rush the passer.
What the Cowboys need is guys who just rush the passer. All over the field all the time. Yes!!!

silverbear;1418040 said:I think he's more quick than powerful, so I think he'd be better off used the way the Boys used Russell Maryland, which is to say I think he's more suited for the 4-3... mind you, I'm not saying he's WEAK, he has decent strength (34 reps in the bench press), I just think his game is based more on quickness...
Edit-- I done messed up, it wasn't 34 reps in the bench press, he had a vertical jump of 34 inches... the two columns were right beside each other, I just misread the chart... it has been pointed out that he did just 23 reps at his Pro Day workout, which would reinforce my belief that he's more of a 4-3 DT than 3-4 NT...
Having said that, I'll note that the Football's Future website disagrees with me, saying he's particularly good at gap control... so on this one, I may be full of it...
Dayton_Cowboy;1418346 said:I don't remember where. However I saw somewhere that the bolts were projected to take him in the first. That one had me scratching my head a little. I just wish I could recall where that projection was from though..
silverbear;1416725 said:Oh yeah, Ngata is a pass rushing STUD... his 1 sack in 16 games last year certainly demonstrates that (he started all 16 games for the Ravens)...
It would really be nice if somebody would send you a CLUE, and you'd realize that the first job of a nose tackle is NOT to be a pass rusher, indeed anything they give you in the way of a pass rush is just gravy...
A nose tackle's job is to tie up two blockers, to allow the linebackers to get to the ball and make the tackle... he's supposed to clog up the middle... Ngata is very, very good at that...
