I feel as if we could trade Greg Ellis, Jason Fegurson, and Bradie James to get a pass rushing Nose Tackle, a 2nd Round Draft Choice. Somewhere like Baltimore for Haloti Ngata and a second round draft choice. Wouldn't be a bad idea

Nah, you're way off base what the Cowboys need is a pass rushing corner. Newman is a terrible pass rushing corner.

Better yet a pass rushing free safety. Maybe the Cowboys should trade for that Archuleta guy in Washington. Washington should have just used him to rush the passer instead of playing in coverage. All I'm saying is that Archuleta was misused and if the Cowboys got him maybe he could play somewhere on the field where he could rush the passer.

What the Cowboys need is guys who just rush the passer. All over the field all the time. Yes!!!

Why would a team trade for a guy coming off of an achilles injury? I think Ellis is a great player but a team would be crazy to do that.

Just an idea

It is perfectly acceptable and highly welcomed to think an idea through before presenting it in the forum.

First of all my point is it is a reason behind my thinking of this.

This sentence is... simply amazing. It almost brings a tear to my eye.

Someday I'm going to write a book at this one sentence; if you stare at it long enough and contemplate its meaning, I think you can see the face of God.

Ngata had 6.5 sacks in his last two college seasons... you call THAT "alot of pass-rushing ability"??

Bluntly, I don't think you'd recognize a good pass rusher if one strolled up to you and bit you on your butt...

You clearly have NO grasp of what a nose tackle's responsibilities are...

Hey Bear, just wondering how you rate Pitcock from OSU? Do you think he could play the NT or is he just a 4-3 tackle?

Kind of reminds me of a line or two from Strawberry Fields forever.

I don't know too much about this guy, but apparently a few teams have projected him at NT. He claims he can play anywhere in the 285-320 lb. range...quite a stretch if you ask me. Obviously, he'd need to prove it at 320. He seems to be quite an athlete at the 300 lb range that he played at for most of his senior year (although his 23 reps at 225 during his pro-day is nearly as disturbing as Kyle Young's 23).

RealCowboyFan will be dissappointed to learn that he isn't the highly coveted elite super duper mega pass-rush specialist NT that we desperately need, however.

Another thread silverbear post, but he complains about me posting in other threads... *AMAZING*

Show me where I complained about your posting... of course you'r welcome to post when you want...

I've merely said that you've said some very, very stupid things in those posts... which again, is nothing more than a fact... you are being laughed at and/or criticized by many more posters than me for that behavior...

Your problem is, you've done annoyed me with your garbage, so now I plan on dissecting every post of yours I come across, and show the rest of the board how profoundly frivolous your posts are, what a complete waste of our time they are...

So unless you LIKE being shown to be ridiculous, I'd suggest you make more of an effort to know what you're talking about before you post...

What we REALLY need is a QB who can rush the passer. Think about that one. Another of those sentences where you can see God Cobra. Let's trade Romo for Vick... he can rush the passer.

I think he's more quick than powerful, so I think he'd be better off used the way the Boys used Russell Maryland, which is to say I think he's more suited for the 4-3... mind you, I'm not saying he's WEAK, he has decent strength (34 reps in the bench press), I just think his game is based more on quickness...

Edit-- I done messed up, it wasn't 34 reps in the bench press, he had a vertical jump of 34 inches... the two columns were right beside each other, I just misread the chart... it has been pointed out that he did just 23 reps at his Pro Day workout, which would reinforce my belief that he's more of a 4-3 DT than 3-4 NT...

Having said that, I'll note that the Football's Future website disagrees with me, saying he's particularly good at gap control... so on this one, I may be full of it...

man i'm glad the threadstarter is not the gm

Think of him as the Matt Millen of this message board... given that he seems to be obsessed with head case WRs, that's a particularly apt analogy...

I don't remember where. However I saw somewhere that the bolts were projected to take him in the first. That one had me scratching my head a little. I just wish I could recall where that projection was from though..

NFLDraftCountdown has him listed as a likely first rounder... perhaps the Bolts think he could play DE in the 3-4...

Oh yeah, Ngata is a pass rushing STUD... his 1 sack in 16 games last year certainly demonstrates that (he started all 16 games for the Ravens)...

It would really be nice if somebody would send you a CLUE, and you'd realize that the first job of a nose tackle is NOT to be a pass rusher, indeed anything they give you in the way of a pass rush is just gravy...

A nose tackle's job is to tie up two blockers, to allow the linebackers to get to the ball and make the tackle... he's supposed to clog up the middle... Ngata is very, very good at that...

Ngata isn't the NT for the Baltimore Ravens. And believe me, I have pics to prove it. He's one of their defensive ends (unless of course, you believe they play the 46, in which case he's a DT.. but they're not playing the 46 ;) ).

Kelly Gregg is the Baltimore NT, and proof they don't have to fit stereotypes.

As far as NTs and rushing abilities go: Curly Culp, anyone?

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
