6. Wade Phillips, Dallas. If Wade wasn't there to bring calm in the midst of chaos, the Cowboys would have imploded and the owner would be the coach. Jerry Jones already thinks he is -- he hired Jason Garrett as offensive coordinator and designated him coach-in-waiting. Garrett has been average at best, and at worst (see Washington) a guy who loses games. Did you catch Jones standing behind Phillips after the win in Houston and grinning as though a win over the Texans guaranteed a Super Bowl victory? The Cowboys have one playoff win (last season) since 1996 and their fans think they're the best team in the history of football? That's what Phillips has to deal with and handles it well in his laid-back way. By the way, (not "oh, by the way'') his career record as a head coach is 82-56. A lot of people would take that.

You know, one thing I had never even thought about is Wade being the calm in the center of the storm. Not sure I buy it but it's worth thinking about I guess.

Funny to see Coughlin at 27, and Singletary at 30. I really believe that if Coughlin didn't win the super bowl that year, he would have been fired. And it isn't that shocking to see the team turn on him again.

The only person who's ever designated Garrett as the "coach in waiting" is the media. Garrett is a bright, young, more than above average coordinator who's got a future. He's still learning and getting great experience every season. I've noticed several teams copying things that were unique to the Cowboys attack. That tells me something. Like the fake pass draw.

GArrett's offense was top 5 last year wasn't it? Philly had no clue how to stop it even after back to back attempts last year. Yeah, sounds just average to me.

And as far as Jerry goes, whoever your team is, you wish you had an owner like Jerry. The guy treats his people, employees, players and fans like gold. Try and find a former player who has anything bad to say about the guy. He personally talks to every player who gets cut. Do you think Dan Snyder does that?

Jerry will do anything in his power to better the Cowboys. Thats all I can ask for in an owner.

I live near Buffalo NY and if Jerry owned the Bills they wouldn't be half the joke they are.

I see Aurther Blank on the sidelines in Atlanta hugging his coach after every game. Whats the difference? Is he a meddling want to be coach to?

Be careful what you wish for.
