Here is where the Cowboys' players finished in the fan voting, with last week's ranking in parentheses --

Romo sixth at QB (same)
Murray first at RB (same)
Bryant third at WR (up from fourth)
Witten seventh at TE (same)
Frederick first at C (same)
Martin third at OG (same)
Leary fifth at OG (same)
T.Smith second at OT (same)
Free fifth at OT (same)
Clutts sixth at FB (same)

Melton eighth at DT (same)
McClain seventh at ILB (same)
Wilcox 10th at SS (same)
Church seventh at FS (down from sixth)

Bailey second at K (same)
C.Jones ninth at P (same)
Harris eighth at KR (same)
Health fourth at ST (same)

Keep in mind that the fan voting has almost no effect on who goes to the Pro Bowl. Although the NFL says the fan voting counts "one third" of the total vote, because of the way each third is calculated and combined, the end result is that the players and coaches almost exclusively determine who goes (and the alternates).

The Associated Press will vote on their All-NFL team when the season's over, and it should be announced either the day before the playoffs or after the first round is over. There will be at least one Cowboy on that team, and possibly more -- maybe including a rookie at guard, which has never happened.

Brees has not a good year by any means, no way is he a pro bowler. The popularity contest strikes again.

Can you elaborate on this process more?

I really hope Bitonio from Cleveland is not ahead of Martin. I was watching him every snap last week and he was allowing pressure to get to Manziel on a regular basis. Now, to be fair J. Football was holding on to the ball for way too long and was making a bevy of poor decisions, but for someone who watches Martin every weekend, Bitonio did not impress.

Sitton (GB) was voted the top guard in the NFC in fan voting (Bitonia was #1 overall). Sitton is a good guard, however, Martin was better IMHO.

Does the Hawaiian tourism industry make sure the game happens?

So at least the fan voting has Romo in. Lets see if he still ends up getting screwed.

Considering they allow an unlimited number of votes which can result in manipulated results from setting up and running scripts it makes since that the fan voting has little impact. Despite that, as others have said the Pro Bowl selection is nothing more than a popularity contest amongst players an coaches. I expect that point to be further validated when Romo either 1) doesn't make it, or 2) is selected as an alternate. No way a QB who is ranked as follows shouldn't be selected:

Category Rank
Comp % 1
YDS/ATT 2
TD/ATT 2
TD/INT 5
QB Rate 2
Total QBR 3

The only stats that really fell outside of the top 10 is
Total INT's 6
Total TDs 7
INT/ATT 9
YDS/Game 18

And he is tied for the second best record in the NFL (for those who point to record as a reason why a player doesn't get selected). Only Rodgers, Manning and Brady rank ahead of Romo statistically.

The votes are tabulated based on the player's portion of all votes cast for that position in each "one-third" (fans, players, coaches). The fan voting is divided up far more than the players' and coaches' votes. So even for the leaders in the fan voting, that "one-third" of the total vote tabulation is much smaller than the "one-third" for the players' voting leaders and the "one-third" for the coaches' voting leaders. As a result, the fans' voting becomes almost meaningless.

Last year, for example, the leaders in the fan voting at guard were Zane Beadles and Jeff Allen. When the SIX Pro Bowl guards were announced, neither Beadles nor Allen was among them -- but two guys who didn't even finish in the top 10 in the fan voting were (Ben Grubbs and Marshal Yanda). One of the guards who ended up playing in the game as an alternate (Evan Mathis) wasn't in the fans' top 10, either. (Beadles was an alternate, but he was in the Super Bowl.)

There are plenty of examples of guys who win the fan voting but aren't even alternates once the players' and coaches' votes are included.

LOL I doubt that he's ahead of Martin. I think he's overrated. Just because some no name blogger wrote an article about him some people think he's better than Martin. Give me a break.

pro bowl needs to go away completely. Frankly only retired coaches and players should vote on who is All Pro. Least likely to vote personal favorites. Not like everyone does not have them; I would say that those who no longer play or coach are still the best suited to make the choices.

Got it. One would think this issues is position-specific, for the fans.

Bitonio had played really well but he has hit a rookie wall. Martin did not really hit a rookie wall, but he struggled against the Eagles because of his ankle and the loss of chemistry when Free went out.
