D'Anthony Thomas is very intriguing. Huge gamebreaker. A potential TD everytime he toughes the ball. I'd worry about his ability to stay healthy though.

Is Joseph a Rod M. type DT? I thought he was more of a wide bodied player.

I hear ya. He wouldn't be, but the acquisition of Kearse tells me we may be looking for some more strength on the DT's spot. A guy who registered 8 sacks from the position should be any coaches type of guy.

We can use all the speed we can get on offense. He'd be a great compliment to our RB's.

He is going to end up on the bench just like Lamichael James and Kenjon Barner, both who were better then him.

They talked about Kearse on talking cowboys. McClay talked Kearse on to Marinelli telling him to try him out. They said Marinelli reluctantly agreed and you saw the result. Kearse never saw the field. Marinelli doesnt want big DTs

Ill start with the biggest need. DL

I really dont see Dallas signing a DE because basically eventhough the market isnt paying for a DE anymore its still too much for what Dallas can spend. With this being a so-so draft at DT id say we could see a Dt signed in FA?

Clinton McDonald DT 6'2 297 Seahawks
Had 5.5 sacks playing a rotation in the seahawks DL. With most contracts signed last yr for DTs being 2 or 3 yr deals I could see a 3 yr deal totaling around 6-7 mil would be fine for a player like McDonald. A very good rotational guy.

Dallas needs a FS ill say this until Church, Wilcox or Heath learn how to cover.

Stevie Brown FS 5'11 227 Giants
IDK if he will end up being available but i think the Giants have bigger needs. This guy would immediately improve the secondary. Having him in the secondary would allow the CBs to play more man because they will be a realiable S playing deep. Coming off a ACL injury im sure teams will offer him 1 yr deals, and some 2 or 3 yr deals with an option. Some play time money that kicks in assuming he isnt injured. Like what they did with Lee. But nowhere near the money Lee gets. 2.5-3 mil a yr is a fair price for Brown. Of course kicking it up some if he stays healthy.

Thats what i would do in FA lol. Something simple nothing that would create headlines. A solid rotational guy, and a proven player for the secondary playing on an incentive contract.

But most of what i hope this team does is build from the draft. Ill post some names by round in what id like to see in Dallas.

RD1
Trent Murphy DE
Kony Ealy DE
Ha Ha Clinton Dix S

IMO you go passrusher or S in this round. I cannot see any DT in this draft better then any one of these 3 players. My first choice is obviously Murphy. My favorite player in this draft. Its clear this guy has been watching JJ Watt play. Because thats what this guys motor is like. Nonstop. Disruptive every play.

RD2
Michael Sam DE
Marcus Smith DE
Timmy Jernigan DT
Kelcy Quarles DT
Geroge Uko DT/DE
Calvin Pryor S

Obviously the needs on this team are defense. You take one here aswell.

RD3
Dion Bailey S
Jordan Zumwalt OLB
Brett Smith QB
AJ McCarron QB
Martavis Bryant WR
Josh Mauro DT/DE
Ed Stinson DT

This pick here can go a number of different way. I would love Zumwalt. mark these words, hes going to be a very good player. And letting him compete with Wilber and Carter. Thats how you get a good deep football team. allowing competition.

Ill leave it with these 3 rounds because thats where you expect your starters to come from and its still early.

I'd be content with those free agents.

I love Murphy and Kony in 1st, do not like Ha Ha. I alternate between Murphy and Kony, but watching JJ Watt college play compared to Murphy is almost identical. Our guard situation is scary so maybe Steen or Gabe Jackson if not then a penetrating DT maybe Quarles or even Johnson. Absolutely love Zumwalt. Guy was insane in the sun bowl. Telvin Smith also interests me greatly. We need a good pass rushing DE, DT, and OLB out of this draft. I'd be more than ok with Tre Boston in the 4th.

Yeah Murphy is just an awsome player. Stanford ran a 3-4 and played Murphy everywhere but you can tell he's a DE all the way. Kony is off and on so thats why i prefer Murphy over him. I even prefer Sam over Kony. The only thing that makes Kony a better "prospect" over Sam is he's taller, thats it. But guys like Dumerville, Mathis, Upshaw, Harrison have showed is you dont have to be 6'5 to be a solid DE. I like Quarles and Easley but in Marinellis system i like these 3-4 DEs like Gardner, Stinson, and Mauro more. These 3 especially and Gardner even moreso then most. Gardner is going to come in and really contribute to some team that can look past his injury which should be fine. As he's on schedule to be a full go at Stanford proday. Zumwalt i wouldnt even mind if Dallas used the 2nd round pick on him. Barr has the better ceiling, but IMO Zumwalt is more NFL ready right now.

I'm curious to what happens with Henry Melton. Do the Bears franchise him again or if he walks how much interest will we show.

Dallas an not afford Melton and needs to have a bevy of rotational players all com,ing from free agency and the draft. Doubtful Spencer signs cheap unless he tests the market 1st. Hatcher is as good as gone. Just looking to pick up 2-3 low tier free agents on that we can add to that amazing 2012 front four.

Various

Watt is a power 3-4 DE, Trent is more a 4-3 SDE or 3-4 SOLB. Different type players.

Again ... grabbing a Seattle DL and expecting him to be as effective is fools gold. See the DL who left those insanely deep SB teams for examples.

At 6-7M over 3 years it would be stupid to leave Seattle and they'd have no reason to let them go.
A deal in the 3 years 10m range is more realistic with half guaranteed.

Kearse played similar snaps in the rotation to what Drake Nevis had been playing. Maybe you missed it because they both had #70.

That's a good point comparing Sam with current NFL players. Need to look more at Gardner, Stinson, and Mauro. Can't wait for proday. I would be ok with a ZB guardin in the 2nd with no depth. Prefer Steen, but Gabe Jackson should be there. It'll be interesting which olbs will rise in 4-3 defenses besides Zumwalt.

no he didnt. the rotation at Dt was basically Hatcher, Hayden, Wynn. Irvin. Kearse lone tackle came in the redzone in the eagles game in the 4th quarter.

I wouldnt want Dallas to go high with a G. You can get a guard in the 4th rd with no much drop off. Linder from Miami is a good G and plays in a zone blocking scheme.

I'd pickup a 3-4 round CB to either push or replace Claiborne. Some times the switch needs to be tapped on to get the light to come on.

No disrespect to the OP, but saying that Marinelli doesnt like big DTs, doesnt really relate to this draft. This draft is stock with big DL with speed, Tuitt played end and at 6'6" and 315lbs ran a 4.80. Thats just for starters. Take another look at the DL crop, I personally think its one of the best for size/speed ratio in years.
