BUT he had Pennington as QB last year as well. You have to factor that in as well. Pennington's arm is so weak that going to a TE is almost a deep throw for him.

Pennington did play 3 games this past season. Fasano had 3 catches for 11 yards in those 3 games. In those games he had 2 catches-10 yards, 1 catch-1 yard and 0 catches-0 yards. Seems as if Pennington did not make that big of a difference in Fasano's production.

Depends on the situations- a 3 game sample (and as I recall Pennington was hurt early in the third game) is not much.

And last year with Pennington he still only managed 34 receptions. A four year sample shows that Fasano is not a #1 tight end in the league. Maybe he can be a good #2(I don't think so), but that is not a need for Dallas. Bennett or even Phillips can handle the #2 role and are better than Fasano.

I wouldn't be shocked if Sean Peyton took a chance on this guy...

Tons of teams need a guy that size with that potential. He will land somewhere.

I thought it was a bad pick by the Cowboys at the time but thought the move to get rid of him was fine. For Miami to give up on him this quickly may mean that his injury may hamper him for some time.

Cowboys 2010, 54 TE(s)....Championship.

There is a rumor that Jones is mulling over a trade of Ware for Tony Curtis, my fingers are crossed.

:laugh2:
That's not much crazier than some of the other stuff I have read here recently.

St. Louis needs a tight end to catch passes from Mike Vick next season.

I just don't think the trade was a stellar move. I've always thought that Dallas got the short end of that stick. 2 starters for a 4th rounder. Find me a single team in the league that wouldn't jump at the opportunity of adding 2 starters for a 4th.

I thought it was a bad trade, too, at the time. The truth is that Ayodele was a throw-in. We couldn't get anything for him and we weren't going to keep him because we had signed Zach Thomas to play his spot and he wasn't a special-teams player we could keep as a backup.

The problem with Fasano apparently was that he kept blowing assignments. That is what came out from the Cowboys after the trade. He wasn't a good enough player to do that and Dallas apparently planned to get better at the position in the draft.

I picture Parcells taking him in and feeding him, taking him for walks. When asked what breed he is by a neighbor, Parcells replies, "He's an Italian tight end."

Thanks Chief, that one cracked me up! :lmao2:

Impending free agent Anthony Fasano says he's been given no indication that the Dolphins want him back in 2010.
Fasano struggled badly this season, even before he was sidetracked by a hip injury in November. Miami will add tight end to its list of offseason priorities, which includes No. 1 receiver, nose tackle, inside linebacker, and free safety.

This may be old news, it made me smile after thinking about all the grief the staff took for that trade.

:hammer:

and the other one ( Akin Ayodele ) is not far behind hitting the road either, that puts the final nail in the coffin of the argument about wether the trade was good for the Cowboys or not.

In the end, the Cowboys came out on top because they ended up with two young, long term contributors ( Choice and Scandrick ) from that pick, but the Dullphins got to use two players for two seasons in their rebuilding process.

Fasano had quite a good year in 2008. Frankly I think Henne was not much for trusting him for whatever reason .

Because he dropped a ton of passes, which was the problem he had in Dallas and why he was going to be released that year.

If the two starters are named Fasano and Ayodele, there was only one team willing to take them, and most probably THE only team in the league where they could have started.

Just because a player is a starter doesn't mean he's good in other teams' views.

Let's get him back, so he can let another divisional playoff game touchdown pass go right through his hands and hit him in the face mask.

Boink.

kansas city might too

Not at that time.. Tony Gonzalez was still there and Ayodele didn't fit in a 4-3 defense in JAX, which is what KC was playing at the time.

Just think, we haven't even reached the dead zone that occurs after the draft. I am bracing for sheer lunacy.

Drafting him was the bad move.

We butchered that whole Fasano/Marty situation, and if Marty wasnt so popular hed traded

I rather have Marty, he was twice the upside as Fasano.
